A tragic accident occurred in the Nakhon Pathom province after a car crash left two young men dead and four injured. The incident happened at 2pm on April 9, when a Honda sedan carrying six young men on probation veered off the road into the Rong Chik canal in the Nong Pak Long subdistrict.

Police Colonel Kamphon Champasri of the Mueang Nakhon Pathom District Police Station coordinated with emergency services, including doctors from Nakhon Pathom Central Hospital and rescue teams, to respond swiftly to the scene.

Upon arriving, responders found the vehicle overturned and partially submerged in the canal, with its wheels facing upward. Tragically, two occupants, 40-year-old Manoj from Sam Khwai Phueak subdistrict and 34-year-old Phatthanaphong from Phrong Maduea subdistrict, were found lifeless on the canal bank with broken necks.

The other four passengers, who sustained injuries, recounted their ordeal. All six were completing community service at Wat Waan En under the supervision of the Nakhon Pathom Probation Office. They were returning when the fatal crash occurred approximately 3 kilometres from the temple.

The vehicle, driven by Manoj, lost control on a curve along the canal road and plunged into the water. The rear passengers managed to escape and break windows to rescue Manoj and Phatthanaphong from the front seats, but despite performing CPR, both were unresponsive.

Authorities suspect Manoj's unfamiliarity with the winding route may have contributed to the loss of control. The families of the deceased arrived at the crash site, stricken with grief at the unexpected loss of their loved ones.

Following legal procedures, police facilitated the transport of the bodies to the hospital for autopsy before releasing them to the families for funeral rites. The accident highlights the need for careful driving, especially on less-travelled and winding roads, reported The Thaiger.
