A crash in Chai Nat has claimed the lives of three family members, a grandfather, grandmother, and their 3-year-old granddaughter, after their motorcycle was struck by a car.

The incident occurred before noon on 10 April, on the Chai Nat-Mueang Chai Nat Road at a U-turn near a housing development in the Kaothapra sub-district of Mueang Chai Nat district. According to the police, the family was travelling on their motorcycle when they attempted to turn across the road. A purple sedan, heading towards Nakhon Sawan from Suphan Buri, collided with them at high speed as they veered into its path.

The victims, identified as 63-year-old Thong, 65-year-old Somkuan, and 3-year-old Nathaphot, were found with severe injuries. Thong had a severed left foot, Somkuan had multiple fractures, and the young girl was unconscious with several broken bones. Emergency responders performed CPR before rushing them to Chai Nat Hospital, where they were all later pronounced dead.

The collision caused the motorcycle to skid for more than 100 meters, while the car came to a halt, damaged at the front. Witnesses reported that the motorcycle made a sudden turn into the path of the oncoming car, leaving the driver of the sedan, a 44-year-old woman, with no time to react. The car was unable to avoid the impact due to the short distance and speed involved.

Ms. Mew, 42 years old, the driver of the sedan, was questioned and stated that she was an inspection officer of a large department store company. Today, they traveled from Suphan Buri Province to inspect the work at the Nakhon Sawan branch.

Authorities took the car driver in for further questioning and have begun legal proceedings.
