CIB Arrests Woman Linked to Online Gambling Syndicate While Holidaying on Koh Larn

Officers from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) have arrested a woman linked to a major illegal online gambling network while she was on holiday on Koh Larn, off the coast of Pattaya.

 

The suspect, identified as Ms. Thanyathorn, was wanted under charges of organising unauthorised gambling via electronic media, money laundering, and involvement in a criminal syndicate. She was apprehended at a resort on the island by officers from the Crime Suppression Division (CSD), operating under the CIB.

 

The arrest followed an extended investigation into two illegal online gambling platforms that had been operating with a turnover exceeding 180 million baht. Several individuals connected to the network had previously been arrested, but Ms. Thanyathorn had fled to Poipet, on the Cambodian border known for casino operations catering to Thai nationals.

 

CIB investigators later discovered that Ms. Thanyathorn had returned to Thailand and travelled to Koh Larn for a holiday. Acting on this intelligence, a police team was dispatched to the island where they located and arrested her at a resort.

 

She has since been transferred to the Crime Suppression Division for further legal proceedings.

 

The operation was led under the direction of Pol. Lt. Gen. Jiraphop Phuridej, Commissioner of the CIB; Pol. Maj. Gen. Wittaya Sriprasertphap, Commander of the CSD; and Pol. Col. Ekasit Pansita, Superintendent of CSD Subdivision 4.

 

The arrest was executed by a team including Acting Pol. Lt. Narawit Piaosu, Deputy Inspector of Subdivision 4, along with other officers from the same unit.
