Is there much to do there or is it a bit ordinary once you did the temples?

Some very good restaurants/ nice places to stay, especially on the river.  Taking it slow, 3-ish days is probably good IMO.

How many 'nice places to stay' would you use in your 3 days? Same for restaurants....2 a day = 6.

Lot's of options around once you've covered the temples.....At night, lit up they take on a different dimension.... There's some good hotels by the river....One, I know for sure) has karaoke rooms. with wait service.... If you're with a group it can be fun....Away from the temples there's not a "strolling" area that I've found....Maybe I just didn't find it..... There's a popular floating market there that seems more legit than the recently constructed tourist traps nearer to Bangkok....They did have some stage shows, but it's been awhile since we were there....

If you have your own transportation it will be a bonus.....

Sukothai sp? And it's other nearby world heritage site might be an option for your next trip....A lot more intimate with a lot less concrete but pretty comparable.....

I was there for a couple nights, 20+ years ago, and didn't do much for me.  Then I'm not really into wats or piles of bricks.  A week might be hard to fill with attractions, though probably as good as any place to hang out for a week.

Had one of my best Beef Massamans there, Aminha Halal Rest., and that wasn't that long ago, as if heading northward, used Ayutthaya a couple times for a pit stop.

Last month I was nearby in Lopburi, unfortunately my plans to visit Atthuya was abruptly terminated after I was assaulted in Lopburi

I ended up paying 2k for a taxi back to Bangkok after the rather big police station in Lopburi did nothing about it

I wouldn't bother if I was you visiting these places

WTF does your political affiliation have to do with touring Ayuthaya?  You are long gone on the Kool Aid dude.  Go for a week, I am sure you will love it.

There is a craft beer place here in Phitsanulok. But after paying Bht 250 for a small 33cl glass, that was it. Tapper is my friend.
