Please use white text not black. Too difficult for us old nomads to read. Thanks

Oooh, changed from dark to light mode. Much better now. Sorry.

Sorry about the font. I made a mistake while typing so copied it out of AN, edited and copied back and that did something strange.

A digital nomad is either a dude with a remote job, or some poverty stricken backpacker that doesnt want to confess what a loser he is.

Think there are shades of grey.

Personally, I think I’ve done ok but I’ve never taken my laptop to a beach / cafe / restaurant to work, I’m not on instagram / YouTube and only self-promotion I do is at industry conferences.

Many nomads do appear to be grifting / delaying the inevitable return to “the real world” but Mark Wiens for example seems to have done very well out of food vlogging on Thailand.

You have a job then. One winner in a soup of losers and deosnt make the soup any more flavourful.

A digital nomad is basically someone who travels the world, often grifting, while pretending to hold some sort of gainful employment. They sit in cafés, always purchasing the least expensive item on the menu, with a laptop open and free WiFi at the ready, occasionally typing something just so the barista doesn’t ask them to leave. Behind the scenes, they’re usually living off some form of passive income, cryptocurrency gains, or their parents’ credit card. They post photos on social media of themselves ‘working’ on the beach, even though sand and laptops famously don’t mix, and call it a career. In short, it’s like being unemployed, but with better scenery and a slightly smug looking Instagram feed, while desperately hoping other people admire them. However, it is strongly advised that you do not even consider this as a suitable vocation for yourself. Stick to what you know best. Mop till you drop!

Retired at 33 & been a digital nomad ever since. 20 years later and still doing it although the work is much less as more people doing it now.

I can work where ever I want, so a beach or countryside is always an option.

I have one of those foldable seats and chairs, so can carry it around with me on the bike. When I spot a beautiful place while driving along, I stop the bike, set up the seating and whisk out the notebook and begin to work.

It isn't a great deal of money each month. On average about 40,00 baht. It is a nice life to have if you can get it.

Getting hired is the difficult part. 🙂

I have put this is in the Community forum ,it may be the wrong forum and frankly my dear  I don't give a damn. ,was that Humphrey Bogart?

Now I'm very old and have no idea exactly what a digital nomad is ,but I'm thinking I would like to learn to be one so I have something to do all day if & when I retire it will be exciting

I may not retire and be like some of my work colleagues who are in their 70's and millionaires in assets but keep working day after day to socialise and he just rather than sit all day in their homes alone if their partner has died etc

But please can we get back to the core subjects of digital nomads !!!!

Quite frankly I'm scared to retire and be locked up all day and bored out of my mind in that horrid View Talay 2B in Pattaya like I was back in 2024 but that's another story

But I could retire if I had something like being a digital nomad , would it be exciting?

I watch YouTube vids and I see them laying by a pool in Dubai or Bali with a laptop on their lap sipping a pina colada

It looks exciting

What is exactly a digital nomad, would they want me ?

No it was from the movie "Gone with the Wind" Clarke Gable

An ology degree could be useful if only you could find out what the ology subject was.

You are a complete idiot. I own 2 companies and work from home. When I seen my boss driving his new 200k Ferrari to work and I'm bringing in 20k per month to help pay for it, I quit. Haven't worked for any one again. Freedom is everything and I don't even own a backpack, 55555. Call me a digital nomad or a business man..... I'm GOOD and I don't need a retirement pension to live here. Have a good day everyone. I will.

What is the difference between an idiot and a complete idiot?

A digital nomad is a poor sucker trying to conquer his life by posting nonsense (exceptions possible)

Do they have a backpack. I'm not even against them. SOME times, they document things in the country. Animals, the beautiful mountains, spicy food, corporate animals.....the sucker is who comes here with $100 and thinks they can live here.....that isn't a digital nomad....just an idiot as I stated before.
