Accident Man Dies After Truck Slams into Another and Causes Multi-Vehicle Crash in Prachuap Khiri Kha

A 24-year-old man has died following a road crash in Kui Buri district, Prachuap Khiri Khan, after the truck he was driving crashed at high speed into the back of a ten-wheeled truck, triggering a chain reaction that damaged two more vehicles at a red light.

 

The incident occurred on the northbound side of Phetkasem Road at the Kui Buri intersection around 21:30 on 2 May. Pol Sub-Lt Buncha Sukkorong of Kui Buri Police Station responded to the scene, accompanied by emergency personnel from Wat Kui Buri Rescue Foundation and paramedics from Kui Buri Hospital.

 

At the scene, a ten-wheeled Hino lorry (registration from Bangkok) was found with damage to its rear bumper, which had been pushed inward by the impact. The driver suffered only minor injuries.

 

Behind the lorry was a black Suzuki sedan (registration from Bangkok), its rear end crumpled from the collision. Fortunately, there were no injuries in this vehicle.

 

To the left, on the roadside, a bronze Nissan pickup truck (registration from Phetchaburi) was found with rear-end damage. It had been carrying a load of miscellaneous goods. Two passengers inside the pickup sustained minor injuries.

 

Further back, the most severe damage was observed on a six-wheeled truck, which had a second truck loaded on its rear platform. The front end of the truck was crushed, and the driver, later identified as Mr Prasit, 24, from Thung Song district in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, was found trapped in the wreckage, crying out in pain.

 

Rescue teams had to use hydraulic cutters to free Mr Prasit from the mangled cab. His left ankle had been crushed and severed due to the impact. Despite emergency treatment and rapid transport to Kui Buri Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries due to massive blood loss.

 

Eyewitnesses stated that the Suzuki sedan and the Nissan pickup were stopped side by side at the red light, with the ten-wheeled lorry behind them. Mr Prasit’s truck, reportedly travelling at high speed, slammed into the lorry, causing it to lurch forward and crash into the two smaller vehicles before coming to rest against the central divider. The truck remained stationary at the point of impact, with the driver fatally trapped inside.

 

Police have documented the incident and are conducting further investigations in accordance with procedures.

Very fortunate for the occupants of the Suzuki sedan and the Nissan pickup which were protected by another truck behind them...    

...  Falling asleep, looking at his phone, whatever cause the deceased not to slow and stop for the traffic lights - its fortunate that his actions did not injure or kill anyone else... As harsh as that sounds, he only took himself out.

..and yes... It seems to be reported on more and more... I'm not sure if that is the 'media contagion effect' or if its happening a lot more - its almost a daily occurrence now.
