That's horrible.

To rub it in current reports of folk going to Vientiane embassy to make  payment for application (no online payment available) and the e-Visa approval sent almost straight away.

Hopefully someone who has recently done the process at PP can advise.

What type of visa?

Hello and thank you for your quick response.

It is an O family dependent visa, I would have gone to Vientiane as I have one from there before but the appointment booking system website looked like it had been taken over by another website.

The 90 day visa you can get when you have a family with a thai, I hope to then extend it to a year visa and I have also just turned 50.

Thank you

Thank you

Hopefully the Non O (Thai spouse) will be approved soon.

A Plan B would be to enter Thailand visa exempt and obtain the Non O at local immigration office.

You would use TM87 and have a Thai bank account in your name only with 400k

Edit: are you married to a Thai national?

Thank you again for your help, I am not married to a thai yet we just have a daughter together and we have been living together in Thailand.

I didn,t realise I could get the Non 0 at a local immigration office I thought I had to be out of Thailand to get that initially before receiving and then being able to extend it to a year from within Thailand?

Yes I have the 400k minimum in bank account and have submitted that on evisa website.

That most likely going to be an issue.

Thailand has its own view of parent in legal terms.

Children born out of wedlock is the issue.

Current thread running on this.

In that thread a guy has Thai gf and child with her.

They live together as family.

Asking about obtaining extension based on parent of Thai.

The norm for this occurs when a couple get divorced.

Not as simple as that.

You mention turning 50 shortly.

Plan Z is to obtain a Non O based on retirement + 12 month extensions.

However that has financial requirements.

An agent is an option for Non O retirement.

Here is thread that discusses issues. Has links.

Whilst a Thai Embassy may accept you as proof of the Father being named on a Child's birth certificate for a Non O visa, for a 1-year extension based on Thai child from Immigration, they do not accept merely being named on a Child's birth certificate is proof of being the Father. It greatly depends on whether the child was born in wedlock or outside wedlock.

Under Thai law it's evident who the Mother is as she gave birth, but anyone can be named as the Father.
If the child is born in wedlock, then the law will automatically recognise you as the biological Father.

That is not the case when the child is born outside of marriage.

That's because there is no more appointment booking system.  ALL Thai embassies are now on the official Thai e-visa system.  No appointment involved.  You apply online, go to the embassy during designated hours and pay, and then wait for your visa.
