Now, it feels like it's lost its edge, replaced by political chaos, declining influence, and a struggle to keep up with fast-moving global powers like China. Trump’s leadership shifted the country toward populism, causing ripple effects worldwide. Some Americans see him as a symbol of strength, but others argue he's more of a disruptor than a stabilizer. Meanwhile, other nations have adapted, shifting their political stances in response to America's turmoil. Instead of building the future, the U.S. seems caught in cultural battles and political noise. Some believe its status as a global power is crumbling, while others think it’s just going through a messy transformation. Either way, the world is watching. 1 2 2

As an American military/civil service retiree, 78 years old, I realized a long time ago that I was born at the right time to enjoy a wonderful life. I noticed the change beginning in the VN war - 2 years there and then when I returned to the US, not everyone had changed but many had - i.e. Trump and his heel spurs so he could avoid the draft - rich kid, but played all the major sports in college so guess those heel spurs didn't reall affect him. Then in my civilain status, I lived and worked in many countries around the world and only went back temporarily to the US so the change crept up on me. By the time I retired in earl 2000 period, the change was complete. I noticed that everyone being selected for candidacy of government offices was chosen by the superPacs. Yeah there were two different parties but both sets of candidates were fed monies by the rich and powerful. Now look at the Trump govt - the agency heads are worth over 450 BILLION USD, more than 172 countries' GDP. Once elected, they quickly learn the ways to become rich off a govt salary and it isn't easy for honest folks! They then immediately begin collecitng money from the superPacs to fund their re-election campaign chest. Since they are selected by the rich, they then cater to them to garner additional funds no reall separtion along party lines. I realized that the golden age is over for the US and it is still being destroyed even further by the policies of the rich so that they can control more and more ot the funds of the country. I left, being used to living overseas and liked Thailand the best with the Philippines a close second. I have had a great life and still enjoying it greatly in Paradise! I do hope the best for America in the end and all the rest of the world too. 2 1 1 1

US is going through an ethno-cultural civil war because it's simply too big and too diverse. Trump is just a blip on the radar and riding the wave. The problems are much deeper and will continue after he's gone so better to focus on that instead of spending so much time with him. 1 2
spidermike007 Posted yesterday at 03:09 PM Posted yesterday at 03:09 PM The US has been on a steady decline for at least 30 years. The quality of life is slipping, the cost of living is outrageous, it's people are disenchanted and bitter, and things are not looking promising with the leadership of a circus goon who wants to be king. The irony is that Trump is harming the US most of all. Trump’s tariffs are basically a form of tax on US citizens. And that it is a regressive tax, because rich or poor, Americans will pay the same amount of tax when they buy an import on the tariff list. The US government is collecting this tax. The US government would do better to raise income taxes on the most well off people in its society. People who can afford the tax more easily. It’s a far more equitable and effective way to raise taxes. It’s how governments do it in well run countries. Trump is a failed capitalist. It is fairly easy to get wealthy if you are willing to steal most of your fortune from unsuspecting small contractors. Yet he still went bankrupt. That requires a special kind of skill. Or another level of grifting. His tax hike proposals would end up being a disaster. If they were highly targeted tariffs, only imposed upon goods other states were subsidizing, making it impossible to compete, that makes sense and would be good policy. But, blanket tariffs end up being punitive for the American consumer and American companies forced to operate overseas due to the silly costs of manufacturing in the US. They are a tax. Trump lies when he says other nations will pay for them. He lies when he says companies will pay for them. Consumers will pay, so it becomes a tax. Be bold, big Don and for once be honest. It is a tax hike. And it could slow down the economy and result in a massive loss of jobs, and major inflation. Very dumb policy. 1 3 3

Furioso Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago America has been on the decline since the 60's, which was the U.S's last great decade. And there's lot's of reasons, 10? 20? literally dozens and dozens. What's sad is the entire west is crumbling as well. Did the other western countries copy America's template for failure? It sure looks like it. Germany is taking the whole Eurozone down. London isn't even London anymore. Maybe countries like France, Spain, and Portugal are doing good idk. We're lucky the rest of the world is a mess, the next 10-20 years are going to be unprecedented in history and I have a prediction that the world population will go from 8 billion down to 3 or 4 billion by the end of the century. Heck, we might actually be in the best of times right now. The future might literally be hell on earth.

I was born in 1982 and things seemed fine in the 90s but what do I know. Feels like things have gone off a cliff since 2008 or so after the markets crashed and social media started to become dominate. This was also the Obama the era which really inflamed tensions.

Yes, I've said many times the 2008 housing crime was the official end of the U.S. and everything after is just people fighting over table scraps. But 2008 was the chickens coming home to roost. The U.S. was in decline for decades but the average citizen had no idea. A few people did have the foresight, like Carl Sagan(he nailed it) and comedian George Carlin(he was disgusted). There was a scene in the 1981 movie "My Dinner with Andre" when one guy gives a great speech that was very prescient about America and the rest of the world's decline. Check out "My Dinner With Andre: We Are Bored" clip on Youtube.

Democrats/liberal policies are the cause of the decline. We see it on the news EVERYDAY. 2 1

Your utopia of an all leftist, Trump hating forum would be so boring without MAGA. If we weren’t here it would be nothing more than a big lefty reach around party. One for every like. 1 1 2
