Man Killed by Wild Elephant After Late-Night Frog Hunt

On 18 May, a 59-year-old man named Chalo was found dead in Uthai Thani after being attacked by a wild elephant while frog hunting alone at night. His body was discovered near a drainage ditch, with an overturned motorbike and elephant tracks nearby. His wife said he had gone out again at 2 am after an earlier unsuccessful trip. Authorities believe the elephant may have been startled by Chalo’s headlamp and charged. Local officials are now offering support to the grieving family as human-wildlife conflict concerns in the area grow.
