Irrelevant ... the plastic didn't put itself there.

Why we burn ours, and take the 'dumping is sea' option away from municipal services.

Yeah, right, and all Thais do the same. This thread is not just for a few Farangs

I can only control me and my world.  F the rest of the world.  They want to live in trash, that's up to them.    Way more than a Thai problem.  G20 countries export their trash to 3rd world countries.  There's the problem, compounded.

Plastic is good, well, better.  Paper is bad, the worst.   Google and enlighten yourself.  People are and always will be bad, and will always be the problem.   Not the products.

Carry on ... PEACE OUT

I keep a plastic garbage bag in the car and motorcycle in case I lose my clothing, good for poncho rain gear too.

I tried a canvas poncho but I got really wet!

Okay, I admit it. I'm a plastic bag junkie. Easy, lazy. Great for rubbish.

But I've got a lot of guilt about it. I carry a Makro heavy plastic bag wherever I go. In fact, I'm having a strap repaired at the sewing lady. But even Makro puts everything in plastic bags.

Microplastics and forever chemicals in all life, not only humans but down to the tinest creatures.

What are others doing about this?

I got my reusable foldable bags always with me (cotton made)

You're joking, aren't you?

You burn your plastic in your garden? Really? 😱

What do you think the municipality does with the trash; burn, landfill and or dump in sea.  I don't know of any local landfill.

We burn what little trash, mostly plastic bags, wrappers of whole foods.   We compost anything else.  Recyclables that we don't use, get sold.   That's as eco friendly as one can be.

Until there is a local trash to energy plant, we'll continue to burn our trash.  Same or better than giving to municipality.

I hate selling the recyclables, as very little is actually recycled.  That's another farce people believe 🙄

Yes, they do. But in special high temperature ovens with suitable filters.

What you do is *****.

Burning trash can cause long-term health problems. The toxic chemicals released during burning include nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide, volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) and polycyclic organic matter (POMs). Burning plastic and treated wood also releases heavy metals and toxic chemicals, such as dioxin.

I really can't believe that nobody told you that.

We'll continue to burn the wee bit of trash we generate ... why ?

None planned, and we don't even have any low tech WTE plants ... hmm, wonder what they do with the trash ???

Pick one ...

... open pit burning

... landfill

... dump in sea

The ignorance on this thread is staggering.   What other silly statements next ... :cheesy:

Thailand is way ahead of it's neighbors, which in itself is really sad.  A work in progress, but not expecting any down here in the Land of Pineapples.

Paraphrased from link below photo:

... "Based on the Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency Department’s database, there are currently 33 operational WtE plants in Thailand" ...

Burning plastic is toxic, thankfully none of our neighbors ever conduct neighborly plastic burning fumigations

Be happy you live here and nobody bothered you so far. In EU you would have to pay a hefty fine.

Anyway your attitude is careless and irresponsible.

"Me first" is obviously fashion in these days.

Did you ever came across "social responsibility" or only Truth Social?🥴

Lots of paper is recycled. You don't see many turtles choking on paper bags.

Reading comprehension.  I probably do exactly what the municipality will do, burn it.  I don't agree with putting non biodegradables in landfills, or worse, dump in sea.

probably because a paper bag doesn't look like jellyfish in the water, like plastic bags do.
