Those Lovely People At Ranongimmigration

I went to register my speedboat the other day and was told I needed to get a letter from the Immigration to say where I lived. Having read all sorts of things about the Immigration dept I wasn't looking forward to it one bit. Went for a ride over to Ranong to find out exactly what they required Monday. Had a chat with one of the guys there and returned there yesterday with some paperwork for the house. After making a few photocopies 10 minutes later and 200 baht a nice letter from them stating where I live. They even came outside to pose for some pics sitting on the Triumph which I emailed them this morning. Having only ever passed through Ranong doing visa runs I dreaded going there but they could not have been more helpful. Lets hope the peple at the marine registry are going to be as helpful when I return to get my book and license, I'll keep you posted.

What kind of speedboat are you registering? I've been thinking of getting a small boat for the Hua Hin area.

The boat I have is 10 metres long with a 200hp Yamaha outboard and is licensed to cary 14 people. When all is set up it wil be used for diving, snorkellig and fishing. At the moment just having fun with it. Its nice to go and dive where and when I want, fish or just go for a spin Having been told so many scare stories about you cannot own this or have that I've had no problems reistering anything in my name. Just fitted a fishfinder yesterday so wil be testing that out later today. I acaully bought the boat from HH and I believe the sister boat to her is still for sale. Let me kow and I'll find out.

Any pics? If you know of any boats for sale in HH or nearby, please PM me or post here. I need inspiration to buy a little boat and you are providing it! I've got a little 2-seater airplane I fly around and it took me two years to get past the English-speakers in Thailand that told me you can't do that here. Finally, found out you can.
