A crash in Uthai Thani Province has claimed the lives of two men, including a father who was desperately searching for his missing 13-year-old daughter.

The crash occurred at approximately 22:30 on 31 July, in Ban Pang Mai Phai, Village 4, Rabam Subdistrict, Lan Sak District. Officers from Lan Sak Police Station, along with medical staff from Lan Sak Hospital and rescue teams from Uthai Thani Disaster Prevention Unit and the Nong Chang Rescue Unit, responded to reports of a vehicle overturning and striking a power pole.

At the scene, responders found a white four-door Toyota pick-up truck registered in Uthai Thani overturned on its roof and crashing into a utility pole, which had been knocked over by the force of the impact. Inside the wreckage were the bodies of two men: Mr. Somporn aged 62, who was driving, and Mr. Phairoj aged 31, who was travelling in the front passenger seat.

Initial investigations revealed that Mr. Somporn had been out searching for his 13-year-old daughter, who had gone missing from the family home earlier that day. Mr. Phairoj had accompanied him in the search. They are believed to have swerved suddenly, possibly to avoid an obstacle, before losing control and flipping over, crashing into the pole.

Mr. Narongdet Thanyacharoen, the village head of Ban Pang Mai Phai, who lives near the crash site, said he heard the sound of the approaching vehicle followed by a loud screech of brakes and a heavy crash. He rushed out to help but was unable to extract the victims from the wreckage and promptly called emergency services.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident, with early assessments suggesting a sudden obstruction may have caused the driver to brake sharply, leading to the fatal loss of control.
