Cambodia has moved to reassure the international community that the country remains a safe, welcoming destination for travellers, following the recent ceasefire agreement with Thailand.

In a statement released on Friday, the Ministry of Tourism emphasised that peace and stability have been fully restored across the Kingdom, including in formerly tense border areas such as Preah Vihear. All major tourist destinations — from the Angkor temples to the southern coast — are fully operational and deemed safe.

“The safety and well-being of all tourists is, and will always be, the nation’s highest priority,” the ministry said, urging tour operators, travel agents, and visitors to continue their journeys across Cambodia with confidence.

Popular attractions including the Angkor Wat World Heritage Site, Phnom Penh’s historic sites, Preah Sihanouk’s beaches, and the tranquil provinces of Kampot and Kep are all open to visitors. Authorities also highlighted eco-tourism options in the biodiverse northeast, noting that the famed Cambodian hospitality remains a defining feature of the tourist experience.

The ministry stressed that both national and local authorities are maintaining a strong security presence and remain vigilant to ensure the protection of all travellers. The announcement forms part of broader efforts to support Cambodia’s ongoing tourism recovery.

So far in 2025, Cambodia has welcomed over 3.36 million international visitors — a 6.2% increase compared to last year. The Angkor Archaeological Park alone earned $28.6 million in ticket sales in the first seven months of the year, with nearly 620,000 international tourists visiting the site — up 5.8% year-on-year.

Chhay Sivlin, President of the Cambodia Association of Travel Agents, praised the government’s clear and proactive messaging. “This reassures the world that Cambodia is not only open but thriving as a tourist destination,” she told Khmer Times.

The ongoing “Green Season” campaign, launched to showcase Cambodia’s lush natural scenery during the rainy months, is expected to further boost visitor numbers in the second half of the year.
