The Centre for Border Management has announced that the Thai-Cambodian border is now largely peaceful, with many areas deemed safe enough for residents to return to their homes. Authorities are working urgently to clear unexploded ordnance to ensure maximum safety.

At 07:00 on 11 August, Mr. Chirayu Huangsap, a member of the Committee of the Task Force for the Thai-Cambodian Border Situation, confirmed that no clashes or incidents of violence had been reported from the evening of 10 August through to the following morning in the seven provinces bordering Cambodia.

The 2nd Army Region Command Operations Center reported that the security situation has been steadily improving since the recent meeting of the Thai-Cambodian General Border Committee (GBC). Provincial governors, supported by security agencies, are overseeing the safe return of displaced residents.

However, some locations still contain unexploded ordnance or suspicious objects. These are being inspected and cleared by bomb disposal teams. Authorities have urged anyone encountering potentially dangerous items to immediately contact local officials or call police on 191.

“The government is committed to maintaining peace and making the border areas safe from unexploded ordnance, so that citizens can return to their homes and resume their normal lives,” said Mr. Chirayu.
