August 18, 2025Aug 18 Terence Stamp, the British actor known for his roles in "Billy Budd," "Superman" and "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert," has died. He was 87. He leaves behind an extraordinary body of work, both as an actor and as a writer that will continue to touch and inspire people for years to come," his family said in a statement to Reuters. Throughout his six-decade career, Stamp — who was nominated for an Oscar for his film debut role in the 1962 film "Billy Budd" — made a name for himself with roles such as General Zod in "Superman" and "Superman II," Freddie Clegg in "The Collector," and Sergeant Troy in "Far From the Madding Crowd."
August 18, 2025Aug 18 He had a very particular voice and cadence, in addition to an engaging screen presence. RIP
August 18, 2025Aug 18 Saw "The Collector" when I was a kid, one of the strangest movies I've ever seen. Stamp got the role because the producer knew he went to school with Samantha Eggar and couldn't get a date with her.
August 18, 2025Aug 18 Stamp was exceptional. He commanded such authority. The Limey was sublime. So many great films to remember him by.
August 20, 2025Aug 20 I personally thought his comeback role in Priscilla Queen of the Desert was Terrance at his best
