Maine police officer arrested by ICE agrees to voluntarily leave the country

A Maine police officer arrested by immigration authorities has agreed to voluntarily leave the country, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Monday.

ICE arrested Old Orchard Beach Police Department reserve Officer Jon Luke Evans, of Jamaica, on July 25, as part of the agency’s effort to step up immigration enforcement. Officials with the town and police department have said federal authorities previously told them Evans was legally authorized to work in the US.

An ICE representative reached by telephone told The Associated Press on Monday that a judge has granted voluntary departure for Evans and that he could leave as soon as that day. The representative did not provide other details about Evans’ case.

Dividing the country instead of unifying. That's the clear pathway.

USA is heading directly to fashism. What a shame for such a country.

So the fact he overstayed his visa and tried to purchase a firearm illegally had nothing to do with it.

So the guy that's not allowed by federal law to own or even possess a firearm was given a job in Maine as a cop.  What could possibly go wrong there?

Wrong, he was not a policeman authorized to have a weapon. He was a reserve Officer. Not a normal police man working the streets. Kind of like the foreigners pretending to be police in Pattaya wrking with the Thai police but unable to carry a gun or work alone.

In Maine, reserve police officers, also known as auxiliary officers, provide support to full-time law enforcement by performing various duties, often on a volunteer or part-time basis. Their responsibilities can range from administrative tasks to actively participating in law enforcement activities, depending on the department and individual's experience and training.

The story uses policeman to get your attention but really. This guy was not a policeman but instead a volunteer.

And this is a bit more sophisticated:

A volunteer who overstayed his visa. Making him illegible to be in the country anymore.

An illegal alien that is a police officer, so what could possibly go wrong? Thank God President Trump is enforcing the laws of the land and deporting these criminals.

Maine police officer arrested

Oh, the humanity!!!!

But let's google before we get our panties in a twister!

Jon Luke Evans is a former reserve police officer in Maine who was arrested by ICE for overstaying his visa and unlawfully attempting to purchase a firearm.

Evans was arrested in Biddeford on July 25 after the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was informed that he attempted to purchase a gun.

Evans joined the police force as a seasonal officer for the popular tourist town.

reserve officers are neither permitted to supply their own firearms nor authorized to carry non-issued weapons while on duty.

So.....

illegal immigrant

NOT a real cop, basically like "tourist police"

not authorized to carry weapons

Panties untwisted!!!!!!!

Good guys in, bad guys out.

Trump broke the lefts brain.

Immigrants, whether legal or illegal, make America great. No 'again' about it.

Rock star Jack White continued his social media campaign against President Donald Trump on Wednesday with a fiery Instagram post.

The White Stripes guitarist made a post featuring various photos and videos of sketchy things Trump has done while president, including selling Bibles and gold shoes. It also included a scorched-earth critique of Trump as a leader.

“I was raised to believe that we defeated fascism in World War II and that we would never allow it again in the world,” White began the post, while admitting that he doesn’t always state his political opinions publicly or “know all of the facts.”

However, he said when it comes to “this man and this administration I’m not going to be like one of the silent minority of 1930′s Germany.”

White then declared Trump to be “a danger to not just America but the entire world and that’s not an exaggeration.”

White also pointed out that Trump is “dismantling democracy and endangering the planet on a daily basis, and we. all. know. it,” before ending the post with this quote from President Theodore Roosevelt:

“To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.”

There's some questions about that...  Why was he trying to buy a gun, which is what flagged him to the Feds?

And it was a paid position.

I am curious where you got your information. Because the Maine police website says that reserve officers are volunteers and may help in the office or assist real policemen. And this story says he was a reserve officer.

Also to make a point, if he was trying to buy a gun and was a real police officer, he would not need to be trying to buy it. He would have either bought one already or been issued a gun with his station. So your post makes no sense at all.

I watched a YouTube of the town manager who stated that they had filled out the requisite forms to the federal gub'ment to clear them to hire him.  They wouldn't have needed or even bothered to fill out those forms for an unpaid position.

Then there was this, from the Daily Mail.  What's that on his hip?  And are those 2 extra magazines on the front of his belt?

(Not so) Strangely, CBS cropped that part.
