September 16, 2025Sep 16 US President Donald Trump arrived in the UK for a second state visit, blending high-profile pageantry and critical trade discussions. The president hailed the trip as an honour, highlighting a strong bond with the UK and a multi-billion-dollar technology investment deal between US firms and the UK. Trump expressed his primary goal was to connect with King Charles, lauding him as an "elegant gentleman" representing the nation. The visit began with a warm welcome at Stansted airport from Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper. Trump and First Lady Melania will enjoy a grand ceremonial day at Windsor Castle, hosted by King Charles and senior royals, including a carriage procession and gun salute. The president is staying at Winfield House and praised Windsor as an "ultimate" setting for the royal events. The visit aims to reassure UK-US relations, with the British government urging continued American commitment to Nato and Ukraine. A record 1,300 military personnel will partake in the grand welcome. A joint flyover by US and UK aircraft will symbolise military fellowship, witnessed by Sir Keir Starmer and President Trump. Inside the private events, key discussions on trade and international cooperation are expected. A significant announcement came as US tech giants pledged 31 billion pounds in investment, targeting AI, quantum computing, and nuclear power. Additionally, Google’s owner, Alphabet, revealed a 5 billion pound investment in UK AI research, as both nations work on a nuclear power development agreement. Despite these advances, some trade ambitions, such as removing tariffs on UK steel exports, remain unresolved. Protests have emerged, with unauthorised projections at Windsor Castle leading to arrests, reflecting the visit's contentious atmosphere. Security is tight, with the events conducted away from public view, concluding on Thursday. Key Takeaways: Trump’s UK visit includes royal ceremonies and trade negotiations. US tech firms announce a 31 billion pound investment in the UK. Security is heightened, with no public-visible events planned. Except that, inevitably any trade deals, plan for trade deals or concept of a plan for a trade deal will be torn up in three weeks or so when the fragrant leader has a hissy fit over something or other.

September 18, 2025Sep 18 Kept well away from the general public, that carriage ride was just in the grounds of Winsor castle, it was like a fairground ride, or Disney world. King Charles is a lot more savvy than Trump and will not be played by him, when Trump mentioned the English speaking world Charles gives him a sideways look, as if to say what about the rest of the world. Nice to see his visit was timed while Parliament was closed..
