Trump said: "It's a singular privilege to be the first American President welcomed here. And you think about it, it's a lot of Presidents and this was the second state visit, and that's the [historic] first. And maybe that's going to be the last time. I hope it is, actually."

The Brits rolled out the Royal welcome for the most powerful man on earth. The pomp and circumstance was off the charts, even had the red arrows doing a flypast just for Donald. I was thinking, Ive seen this scenario play out before but couldnt quite remember when, now I do.

I was when Carlin became the Daddy. That is exactly what just happened. Trump is THE MAN, everyone else insignificant gnats on the great mans tail.

Trump, like Carlin, just became the Daddy, and the whole world knows it. Must be devastating for the irrational haters and woke cultists.

Apparently HARRIS won the (s)election!

Starmer is engaging in "realpolitik", It's not something he'll enjoy but if you can gain so much by putting on a dress party then why not.

Good on you, Keir!

So please contrast the unprecedented splendour of the welcome DJT got, to the welcome your corrupt senile irrelevance got? Then remind me who was talking gibberish🤣

I don't know why this event was noteworthy, Trump speaks gibberish all the time.

Wait!  Did Carlin also visit that infamous island where the underage girls called their patrons "Daddy"?

But this was from a script that he appeared to read from without going off on his usual tangents!

Trump was invited to U.K. by the King.. not Starmer, the Prime Minister just handed the invitation to Trump on behalf of the King on his visit to Washington earlier this year

The King did indeed "invite" Trump but it was at Starmer's request.

The Monarch does not initiate State visits.  It is the Government of the day that requests the Monarch to so do.

Did you actually believe that as you typed it ?

It is cr4p - the Monarch makes all royal invitations - often on the RECOMMENDATION of the sitting government.

Below is a copy from the UK house of commons library!

Inbound state visits are official visits by heads of state to the UK, as guests of the King. While the King formally invites and hosts the visiting heads of state, it is the UK Government who chooses whom to invite.

So you think the King would invite someone he didn't want?

Get real.

Yes because the king will have been informed by the government that stroking Trump's ego would save the UK economy billions of pounds.

I suggest you get real and look in detail at how the British Constitutional Monarchy works as opposed to an absolute Monarchy.

Of course the Monarch must invite whoever the Ruling Government of the day "asks" to be invited.  In basic practical terms he could NOT initiate State visit as the TOTAL bill for the visit is paid for by the Government!

"The FCDO covers the cost of accommodation, transport, food and incidentals (up to a set limit) in the UK for the visiting delegation during the period of the official programme only."

"Heads of state are invited to visit King Charles III on the advice of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). A body called the Royal Visits Committee “provides advice to the Prime Minister [on state visits], drawing on views from across HM Government”.6 The government’s recommendations for state visits, informed by the committee, are then “endorsed by the Foreign Secretary and Prime Minister before being presented to His Majesty The King for formal approval”.7 The Royal Visits Committee is chaired by the Permanent Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs (the FCDO’s most senior civil servant) and consists of........."

Why........"at banquet"?

TBH, I don’t really understand this thread—and it mildly freaks me out about getting older, especially if I were living somewhere really hot, like Thailand. <creeps away>

?  He certainly can speech gibberish from time to time, but I thought he seemed very happy and appreciative of the day and event.

And why wouldn't he? His frail ego had been stroked and his fat butt had been kissed all day. A narcissist's heaven!
