Somalian migrant in Epping hotel thanks Starmer after asylum win

A Somalian migrant living at the Bell Hotel in Epping has thanked Sir Keir Starmer “from the bottom of my heart” after winning the right to stay in Britain.

Khadar Mohamed, 24, who arrived on a small boat from Somalia, will leave the Essex hotel next month to move to Bradford after being granted leave to remain on human rights grounds.

He said many more asylum seekers in similar situations will also be allowed to stay, and dismissed Labour’s “one-in, one-out” deal with France as doomed to fail.

“I am glad the Government has supported me. I want to thank Keir Starmer from the bottom of my heart,” he told the Daily Mail. “I believe many, many more of us will also be allowed to stay.”

Mohamed said he wants to work and contribute to Britain, insisting: “It is not our fault. If people are not happy with the system, then it is the system which needs to change. We are not the problem.”

The Home Office declined to comment on his case.

His comments come as Labour’s migrant returns scheme with France falters amid legal challenges, and after an Eritrean man was told he would be deported following a failed trafficking claim.

Maybe we could get more in like him and start deporting all our local trash to Australia again.
