A horrific attack has left two dead and eight injured at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan, on Sunday. In a shocking sequence of events, a 40-year-old man drove his vehicle into the church, then opened fire on the congregation. The suspect, who later engaged in a gunfight with police, was killed during the exchange.

 

The violent episode unfolded at around 10:25 a.m., disrupting a morning service attended by over 100 parishioners. Grand Blanc Police Chief William Renye said the suspect, originating from Burton, Michigan, also set fire to the building, which developed into a large blaze causing partial structural collapse. Authorities managed to extinguish the fire by early afternoon.

 

Emergency responders, including the FBI and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), are investigating the potential motives behind the attack; there is speculation that the timing of the incident is linked to recent events. death of church president Russell M. Nelson. Hospital officials have reported nine victims are receiving medical treatment, with two in critical condition.

 

President Trump and Vice President JD Vance offered their condolences, emphasising the need to tackle what has been described as another targeted attack on Christians. Trump urged the nation to pray for the victims and has assured that the FBI is leading a comprehensive investigation involving over 100 agents. State officials, including Attorney General Pam Bondi and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, have condemned the violence and expressed their sorrow for the affected community.

 

Church spokesperson Doug Anderson confirmed the shootings during the service, expressing deep gratitude for emergency services and support received from around the world. "Places of worship are meant to be sanctuaries," Anderson stated, highlighting the heartbreak felt by the community.

I think it's safe to speculate he had a grudge against the Mormons.

Update:  Now being reported 2 dead seven injured and one critical plus the shooter is dead. These numbers might increase if others were caught in the fire.

Will Trump direct the military to flood the streets of Grand Blanc to secure it from terrorists?

Will the FBI arrest Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer,  a self-identified progressive Democrat, as allegedly allowing the attack, etc.?

You know with these kind of tragedies that Trump has to make them about himself.

I very much doubt someone into trans rights and furries and has a boyfriend that wants to be a girl would be a member of the Latter Day Saints Church.

He was from Utah raised in a Mormon family.

However the percentage of murders in the USA puts those committed by the Republican/MAGA nuts far in excess of those committed by Dem supporters, which was my point.

 

The nutters and the hillbilly-type of GOP supporters, easily recognisable by their red hats and beards (mostly men) are the "poorly educated" liked by trump so are not that bright and like their guns and believe trumps lies........a sad mix of dumb people.

Why is it ALLWAYS the question no matter what particular party or group a person belongs to?less division and strong gun control would do a lot to curb these tragedies….unfortunately we know it will be spun to try to gain some kind of perceived advantage instead of addressing and fixing the problem.sad and pathetic in my view.
