In an unexpected revelation, it has been confirmed that Sir Tony Blair met Jeffrey Epstein at Downing Street while still serving as the prime minister. The meeting took place on 14 May 2002, following lobbying by Lord Peter Mandelson. Epstein’s crimes became public only years later.

A memo by Matthew Rycroft, a senior civil servant, detailed the scheduled meeting with Epstein, described as a "super-rich" financial adviser. Epstein pleaded guilty to soliciting prostitution from a minor six years after the 2002 encounter. Blair had no further interactions with Epstein, according to Sir Tony's spokesperson, who described the meeting as brief and focused on US-UK politics.

Emails reveal that Lord Mandelson advocated for the meeting, describing Epstein as a friend endorsed by ex-US President Bill Clinton. The release of these documents was previously blocked due to concerns about UK-US relations, but it is now accessible via the National Archives under a Freedom of Information request. This followed Lord Mandelson's sacking as US ambassador amid revelations about his ties with Epstein.

Mandelson, who was a backbench MP at the time, communicated to Jonathan Powell—Tony Blair’s chief of staff—that Epstein was deemed "safe." The memo noted Epstein’s connections with Clinton and several prominent figures. It also highlighted Epstein’s role as an entrepreneur and his involvement in global markets.

Epstein's criminal history saw him convicted in Florida in 2008 for soliciting prostitution from a minor. He died in 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking charges. Clinton has acknowledged his past association with Epstein but denied any knowledge of criminal activities.

Looking forward, the documents continue to offer new insights into the extent of Epstein's connections with influential personalities, highlighting the intricate influences of political and personal networks.

Key Takeaways

  • Sir Tony Blair met Jeffrey Epstein in 2002, long before Epstein's crimes were known.
  • Lord Mandelson facilitated the meeting, with Epstein linked to several high-profile figures.
  • Documents were released due to a Freedom of Information request following Lord Mandelson's sacking.

It’s just one more reason to release the files im sure many of Epsteins contacts were of a financial nature.Im also sure some were sucked in (figuratively speaking) by the girls.

A real error of judgement from Epstein. Visiting the war criminal Tony Blair. A new low.

I worldly be surprised if Bill Clinton and you know who have a few  chapters in the Epstein Files.

Everyone forgets that Epstein was a successful financier. There is no news of him taking girls to Downing Street. Moreover, the FBI has confirmed there is no evidence that Epstein was involved in trafficking girls.

Because he had lots of money! that is the nature of politics: you hang out with people with money (regardless of how they got it) hoping some will come to you/your party

Much has been researched & written (and largely overlooked by the main stream media) on Epstein and various of his associates.  Here's a couple of articles worth revisiting from decades ago:

Mandelson "deemed him safe", this from a man who had by then twice resigned from minesterial posts amidst allegations of corruption!
