Immigration authorities have arrested two key figures in a human trafficking network that operated for two years, with reported financial flows exceeding 100 million baht. The suspects, Mr. Somchai, 26, a Thai national and Mr. Saw Khin E, 31, a Myanmar national, were captured at the Thai-Myanmar border in Mae Sot, Tak Province on 23 October 2025. Both face charges related to facilitating the illegal entry and concealment of foreign workers.

The arrest was carried out by the Samut Sakhon Immigration Office under the direction of Pol. Col. Pokchat Chaisukwat, with assistance from Pol. Lt. Col. Setthapong Chumueang and Pol. Lt. Jirayu Cherdchai. The operation follows directives from senior police officials, including Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanpetch and Pol. Gen. Thana Chuwong, to intensify crackdowns on illegal foreign workers and networks exerting influence in local areas.

Investigations revealed the suspects orchestrated the illegal entry of migrant workers from the lower northern border into central Thailand. They coordinated primarily through Karen ethnic networks and social media platforms to recruit clients and manage operations. The authorities compiled sufficient evidence to secure arrest warrants for both individuals.

Charges against the suspects include knowingly facilitating the illegal entry, sheltering, or assisting foreign nationals to evade arrest. Following their detention, they were handed over to Krathum Baen Police Station for further legal proceedings.

The case highlights ongoing efforts by Thai authorities to combat organised human trafficking and enforce immigration laws, particularly in border regions and areas with significant migrant labour activity.

Key Takeaways

• Two ringleaders of a human trafficking network were arrested at the Thai-Myanmar border.

• The operation involved over 100 million baht in financial transactions over two years.

Good for the BIB... 2 more scumbags taken off the streets..

It is unfortunate that teens feel they need to do anything like selling sex to get money. What is worse is that so many parents willingly and knowingly allow their kids to go off to do this.
