Ex-Thai boxing champion arrested for running multibillion-baht online gambling ring

Authorities have arrested a former Muay Thai champion, aged 28 and known in the ring as “Puen Gon Tor Surat”, along with seven others for operating an illegal online gambling website that reportedly handled more than 100 million baht in annual turnover. The site ran for over three years and generated profit from dozens of bank and ATM accounts used to process transactions. Investigators seized multiple bank books, ATM cards, mobile devices and computers as evidence during raids in Chon Buri and Lamphun provinces. The suspects now face charges including operating an illegal gambling business and money-laundering. The case sheds light on how sports figures may pivot into other high-risk ventures after retirement from competition.
