Barack Obama and Kamala Harris rallied support for Democratic candidates in key electoral races on Saturday. Obama addressed crowds in Virginia and New Jersey, pushing for voter turnout in gubernatorial races and supporting redistricting efforts in California. Meanwhile, Donald Trump's political machine is channelling resources to energise Republican voters in these battleground states.

Obama, speaking in Norfolk, Virginia, painted a stark picture of the current political climate under the Trump administration. He criticised Trump's economic policies, asserting they favour billionaires while costing federal employees' jobs, particularly in Virginia. Obama endorsed Abigail Spanberger, linking her Republican opponent Winsome Earle-Sears to Trump's administration.

Later in Newark, New Jersey, Obama supported Mikie Sherrill, criticising her opponent Jack Ciattarelli's alignment with Trump. Obama expressed that Sherrill embodies leadership focused on serving the community without excuses. Trump, in a counter-effort, held a tele-rally backing Ciattarelli, branding him as a candidate who will deliver "unbelievable results."

Trump's team is investing millions in voter mobilisation efforts in both states and looking to refine campaign techniques ahead of the midterms. Despite this, Democrats generally maintain a lead in voter registration, particularly in New Jersey, where they surpass Republicans by nearly 900,000 voters, reported ABC News.

Trump's use of tele-rallies aims to boost enthusiasm, leveraging his historical voter turnout success.

Kamala Harris joined efforts in California, advocating for a proposition to redraw the state’s congressional map. Her messaging focused on empowering voters and rejecting undue influence in political representation. The initiative aims to potentially flip five Republican-held districts, stirring debate over the balance of power between state structures and voter influence.

Key Takeaways:

  • Obama and Harris rallied for Democrats in key states amid imminent gubernatorial elections.
  • Donald Trump’s operation is heavily investing in Republican voter turnout efforts.
  • Political battles focus on economic policy impacts and potential changes to congressional representation.

Some think he might have been trying to run it LOL and How did that work out?

Trump not rallying in person is telling. He has resigned to the fact that it will be a disastrous Tuesday for the MAGA brand.

Clearly no new talent in the Democrat party.

You have this right.  Obama's 3rd term.

Gerrymandering to eliminate Blacks and minorities from having an impact on voting is pretty disgusting. I realize the Dem target is not the minorities but trying to manipulate voting by any party feels wrong.

For sure.

What the Dems need more than anything else is new talent and new faces.

These old warhorses are way past their prime.
