Two Thai women have been convicted in Denmark for human trafficking and running brothels under degrading conditions involving Thai nationals recruited to work in Jutland. The District Court in Kolding found both women guilty of recruiting 25 Thai women for prostitution between October 2023 and December 2024, with five identified as victims of trafficking. The case highlights continuing concerns about exploitation within cross-border sex work networks.

According to the court ruling, 40-year-old Jutharat Jarndee and 48-year-old Tikamporn Maisri Hansen were sentenced to three years and six months and four years in prison respectively. Both women were also ordered to be deported, Jarndee with a six-year entry ban and Hansen permanently. Police said the pair had operated from addresses in Horsens and Fredericia, where victims were housed and monitored.

Investigations revealed the women controlled the victims’ daily routines, including their working hours, meals, and earnings. The victims were collected directly from the airport and required to work from 09:00 to 22:00 each day. Reports described unsanitary and unsafe conditions at the locations, including mould and poor hygiene standards.

Authorities confiscated DKK 500,000 from each defendant, which was determined to be proceeds from the criminal activities. Both defendants have filed appeals against the verdict. The court proceedings and police inquiry mark one of the most detailed investigations into trafficking networks involving Thai nationals in Denmark.

Vice Police Inspector Sønke Iwersen said the investigation developed new methods that could strengthen future human trafficking cases. He noted that the approach used in this operation would support broader law enforcement efforts to identify and dismantle similar networks.

The convictions are expected to reinforce Denmark’s legal stance on human trafficking and may prompt closer cooperation between Danish and Thai authorities in tracking and preventing transnational exploitation. As both women have appealed, the case will move to a higher court for review in the coming months.

I'm sure there'd be one or two Pimp Masters/bar owners on soi 6 could offer them employment once they return to Thailand.

The filthy tarts.

What is unforgivable about this case is that the trafficked women were forced to live and work in unsafe and insanitary conditions.

Were they even in Denmark legally?  And if they were, on what basis?  And the trafficked women...  How did they get in?

I wonder if cases like this make it harder for Thais to get visas around the world?  (Not really.  I know it does)

No Danish partners arrested?

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark

Quote: 'Human trafficking sentences vary significantly by location and the specific details of the crime, but they are generally severe, often including lengthy prison terms and substantial fines.                                                  In some jurisdictions, federal penalties can involve 5 to 40 years in prison for a first offense, and up to life in prison if death or serious injury is involved'

'Fines are common, sometimes reaching millions of dollars, and may be earmarked for victim services.'
