In a heartwarming gesture, President Barack Obama gave a group of Korean and Vietnam War veterans an emotional surprise on a flight to Washington, D.C. The special Veterans Day salute happened on an Honor Flight from Madison, Wisconsin, where veterans and their families were heading to visit the nation's monuments ahead of Veterans Day.

Obama boarded the plane to deliver a message of gratitude via the intercom, expressing his appreciation for their service and sacrifices. He emphasised the importance of honouring their commitments to the country. His unexpected appearance brought joy and surprise to those on board, as captured in a video he later shared on the social media platform, X.

The veterans were travelling as part of the Honor Flight Network, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to flying war veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit memorials built in their honour. The initiative has successfully brought over 300,000 veterans to the capital in the past two decades, serving as a chance for them to connect, share stories, and pay respects to fallen comrades, reported ABC News.

Obama further reflected on the meeting through a post on Medium, reiterating his gratitude towards all veterans. The veterans' flight marks yet another milestone in the Honor Flight Network’s mission of honouring those who served. While the Honor Flight Network hasn't commented directly, the ongoing success of their operations highlights their positive impact.

Going forward, such initiatives continue to foster recognition and respect for veterans across the nation. With similar events expected in the future, these flights offer a meaningful way to celebrate camaraderie and remember the sacrifices made in service to the country.

Meanwhile Donny the f clown hosts a middle eastern warlord who used to kill Americans on Veterans Day… how utterly pathetic, but not surprisingly!

In honor the the Veterans, might Trump dig up Arlington Cemetery and build a golf course?

Those were the days of decency and statemanship.

Now seems a lifetime ago.

Except for his lying, scheming, and his "Transformation" of America.  Oh his Obama Foundation Slush Fund like the Clintons had.

Well, these veterans just followed orders of Washington DC. Quite a few back in the day did not return home, as they lost their life on the very far away battlefields.

My question is, what on Earth does Washington send these people across half the planet to get involved in wars, which are not at all America's problems? America has - proven over and over again - plenty of own domestic problems to deal with first.

A "defense" budget is there to defend a country; the latest budget the US approved, was almost 900 billion (with a B and not an M) US dollars for 2025. The warmongering Canadians and Mexicans, the only border states, must be most aggressive to justify such an enormous amount which is more than the next 25 countries together - incl. Russia, China and India.

Obama gave these men a warming handshake; if anyone though understood, why they were sent to Asia 50 - 75 years ago ..... well, only they know as nowadays nobody understands such faraway interference by Uncle Sam!

Trump insults POWs and he told general Kelley his chief of staff to his FACE he thinks veterans are suckers and losers……General Kelley lost a son KIA ….if trump was aware of that that’s really really deeply disturbing .heck just the insult to McCain should have gotten the cr@p beat out of him.so yea I wholeheartedly agree with you trumps incapable.

Veterans of the time when Nazis were the bad guys.  Those days are gone.
