November 15, 2025Nov 15 For me it just doesn't feel the same. Red hot, price of a turkey is ludicrous and the fact that christmas day isn't recognized as an official holiday all add up to the less than optimal experience imo. This year I'm spending christmas in the alps with my brother Chris, whom I haven't seen for a while. Can't wait! Eric.

November 15, 2025Nov 15 Love it in Bangkok. Amazing. Xmas day last year I ended up in the cheesecake factory in central world, for desert. At +450 baht that is my most expensive piece of cake here!

November 15, 2025Nov 15 Xmas much better in TH, as except for a few years, before wee one asked if Santa was real, it's just another day. Though I do occasionally play Xmas music, though rare of late. Hated Xmas, in USA, and everything about it, except the munching & EggNog, which I made a batch this week.

November 15, 2025Nov 15 December and Christmas is cool season like today. Always enjoyable. Get up into the mountains, and enjoy the brisk cool air. This year a road trip Nan to Chiang Rai is on the cards. Christmas dinner will be at Ribs&Company Chiang Rai. Flights to Nan were cheap, a great deal on an one way SUV rental from Hertz and off we go. Cool season will end the end of February, but thats okay as my daughter will come back to marry on Samui in March.

November 15, 2025Nov 15 Absolutely hate christmas back home. In Thailand it's much more enjoable. All the good parts about it, like giving presents and having fun. None of the dumb religious stuff or any of the guilt trips about how you need to be with your family eating too much and being bored to death. Also, Christmas is just another day in Thailand so just about everything is opened, so no need to be rushing around buying stuff just before or whatever. Just a much more relaxing and enjoyable experience all around.
