Cambodian police have detained a 19‑year‑old man accused of killing a young woman and committing a sexual assault on her body, in a case that has shocked Kampong Thom province.

 

Authorities confirmed that Mon Siha, also known by the alias “India”, was arrested on 15 November in Pailin province, a day after the body of 22‑year‑old Him Tina was discovered buried near his home in Kroch village, Svay Phleung commune.

 

According to the National Police’s Criminal Department, the incident began on 13 November when Tina visited Siha’s house seeking money from his mother. Police say Siha confessed to luring her inside, covering her mouth, and fatally assaulting her before committing a sexual act and concealing the body.

 

The crime itself took place on 14 November in Tang Kok district, Kampong Thom. Following a swift investigation, officers tracked Siha to Trom Mountain in Pailin city, where he was taken into custody without incident.

 

In a statement, police stressed that the suspect has admitted responsibility and is now undergoing formal case processing. He has been handed over to the Kampong Thom Provincial Police Commissariat for further investigation and legal proceedings.

 

The case has drawn widespread attention in Cambodia, highlighting both the rapid response of law enforcement and the disturbing nature of the crime. Officials have pledged to pursue justice in accordance with the law.

When/if he's found guilty he needs to be put away forever, people that commit this heinous a crime will never fit back into society and will always be a danger. I would say put him to death but that riles people up too much. IMO I think he deserves it.
