A police officer was injured on 20 November 2025 when his motorcycle collided with the rear of a prison transport truck carrying 12 inmates in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya. The six-wheeled truck braked suddenly on Naresuan Bridge while heading into Ayutthaya city, prompting the collision. Emergency responders attended the scene, providing immediate assistance.

The injured officer, Police Sergeant Major Chanchai Wannalee, 52, sustained facial injuries and abrasions on his body. Volunteers administered first aid before he was taken to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Hospital. The motorcycle, a white Yamaha N-Max, wa damaged and the prison truck, an Isuzu six-wheeler (registration from Bangkok), had minor rear-end damage.

According to Sumet Ritthidej, the prison driver, he was transporting the inmates to attend court when the vehicle in front braked suddenly, causing him to brake as well. The police motorcycles were escorting the truck to ensure the inmates’ safe arrival at court. Two motorcycles were assigned to accompany the transport at the time of the incident.

Traffic congestion in the area, caused by an earlier accident, required police to manage the flow, but vehicles slowed abruptly, contributing to the collision. The prison truck carried 12 inmates, all of whom remained safe inside the vehicle. Authorities quickly secured the area and monitored the scene.

Matichon reported that the injured officer is now in stable condition, alert and responsive, though he experienced some dizziness from the impact. Further medical checks and a legal investigation into the incident are ongoing.
