Two people died and one was critically injured after a trailer truck ran a red light and collided with two motorcycles at Erawan Intersection, Talay Chupson Subdistrict, Mueang Lopburi District on 25 November 2025. Witnesses reported a horrifying scene as residents screamed while emergency services arrived to assist.

Police Lieutenant Chatrees Sapniyom of Mueang Lopburi Police Station confirmed that two motorcycles, a red Suzuki and a black-and-white Honda Click, were damaged. The male rider of the Suzuki, Mr. Samran 69, was killed instantly, his body severed in two. His wife, Mrs. Urai, 65, also died after suffering severe injuries despite medical attention, while the other motorcyclist, Mrs. Ratchanok Sakuldee, 63, was critically injured.

The trailer truck involved bore licence plates from Nakhon Sawan. The driver, Mr. Ched, 74, told police he was travelling from Nakhon Sawan to Saraburi. He admitted he could not stop in time as the traffic light turned yellow and decided to cross the intersection, colliding with the motorcycles that had green lights.

Authorities took Mr. Ched into custody, and he faces charges of reckless driving causing injury and death. Emergency responders, including rescue volunteers from Ruamkatanyu Foundation and staff from Phra Narai Maharaj Hospital, attended the scene to provide aid and transport the injured to hospital. Khoasod reported that police are reviewing CCTV footage and witness statements as the investigation continues.

I always assume this is going to happen. I never go first when the lights change and always look to see if there is someone planning to run a red light.

Remarkably the driver told the truth and admitted error in this case.

if he went through on amber , there is no way the motor cyclists lights were green .

There is usually a 5 second delay between a red light coming on and another traffic light turning green.

Unless the traffic lights aren't synchronized.

If he went through as the light was amber. He would not have been arrested for reckless driving. So your point is mute. My take from reading this was the driver was going to fast to stop quick enough when he saw the light had turned amber. Stopping a loaded truck requires some distance for braking.. He simply was unable to slow and stop in time so decided to go through the light instead. Too often this happens in Thailand.

Also, too often motorcycles jump the gun as soon as the light is green and they never bother to look if the traffic has stopped for their red light. Although, this is usually done with a younger crowd. These people who died or were injured do not seem the type who jumps the gun at the light.

Yeah, he should learn to drive. You do not speed up when amber. That´s the time when you slow down. After that, he should slow down in an intersection even if have a green light if he is unaware of how long it has been green. Especially when driving a heavy truck.

Slow down when approaching traffic lights and cover the brake was the rule when I passed my driving test  but apparently not in Thailand

74 he should have retired stupid git.
