Trump Orders Green Card Review for Citizens from 19 Nations

In a sweeping directive from the US president, green cards issued to individuals from 19 specific countries are set for a rigorous reexamination. Joe Edlow, director of United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), announced on X that President Trump's order will entail a full-scale review of green cards from these “countries of concern.” Details regarding the specific countries were not initially provided, but USCIS referenced a June presidential proclamation naming 19 nations.

The 19 countries are:

Asia:

  • Afghanistan
  • Iran
  • Turkmenistan
  • Yemen

Africa:

  • Burundi
  • Chad
  • Republic of the Congo
  • Equatorial Guinea
  • Eritrea
  • Libya
  • Sierra Leone
  • Somalia
  • Sudan
  • Togo

Americas/Caribbean:

  • Cuba
  • Haiti
  • Venezuela

Southeast Asia:

  • Burma (Myanmar)
  • Laos

All are deemed as countries of concern due to security considerations. This move follows closely on the heels of a shooting incident involving National Guard members in Washington, DC. The shooting suspect, linked to the recent incident, entered the US in 2021 under Operation Allies Welcome after aiding American efforts in Afghanistan.

The Department of Homeland Security has begun reviewing all asylum cases processed under the Biden administration, indicating increased scrutiny following recent events. The shooting suspect was thoroughly vetted before collaborating with the US government and entering the country. The suspect was cleared on all checks but will now be included in the larger review process under these new directives, reported CNN.

Key Takeaways

  • President Trump orders a detailed review of green cards for citizens from 19 countries.
  • Recent events in Washington, DC, partly motivated this directive.
  • Homeland Security is also re-evaluating asylum cases approved under the Biden administration.

The nations match those in Trump's June 4, 2025, presidential proclamation restricting entries due to "deficient vetting, information sharing, and secure identity documents."

The full list includes:

Countries

Full Entry Suspensions (12)

Afghanistan, Burma (Myanmar), Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen

Partial Restrictions (7)

Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, Venezuela

These were selected based on factors like terrorism activity, overstay rates, and passport reliability (per State Department assessments).

Makes perfect sense!!!

No doubt Trump is using this as an excuse to further his white supremacist agenda. People of color are simply not welcome, and non-wealthy folks are definitely not welcome.

Those Lao terrorist networks are definitely planning the destruction of the free world!

It seems strangely odd for a supporter of Trump to be calling someone a snowflake, when they are supporting the biggest snowflake in America!

Don never stops crying, whinging, whining, berating and hating anybody who resists his foul agenda. He is the ultimate victim.

But he took to much time doing it.

Unless DHS has secretly developed a Minority Report-style "pre-crime" prediction process, this is pure theater. All of these people were already thoroughly vetted, and the shooter even more than others, since he was working under the CIA. Individual people will always be able to go nuts and do something unexpected, and no amount of vetting can predict that.

And by the way, his application for permanent asylum was approved under Trump, not Biden.

During 1980-89 Minneapolis, MN Immigration went monthly to Asian restaurants and grocery stores and checked for green cards.  My wife carried her green card everywhere.  I liked the idea.  I stand for law and order and common sense.

Thank you for your post, but no matter how true it is the MAGAs won't accept or believe it, so another clip to add to yours..............

"AfghanEvac, a group that helped resettle Afghans in the US after the military withdrawal, said they had undergone “some of the most extensive security vetting” of any migrants. It said Lakanwal applied for asylum under Biden but received it later, under Trump.

“This individual’s isolated and violent act should not be used as an excuse to define or diminish an entire community,” AfghanEvac wrote on the platform X, drawing a barrage of hateful comments".

One for Donnie to shoulder, LOL.

Yet it just shows that if his perma asylum was approved by Trump what a betrayal it was to the country either way to murder.

Since the shooter was literally still having to report for final court decision before he went on his shooting spree.

Snowflake refers to the left - look it up if you don't believe me.  You if think deporting murderers, rapists, wife beaters, child traffickers, removing men from women's sports and trying to stop the flow of drugs is a "foul agenda" then that is proof positive you are one sick mother f***er.

Delusional stuff. Trump is a major snowflake. Saint Donald. Total revisionist history, a complete reformation of his entire career, and a total erasure of his past crimes, moral terpitude, and a total and complete willingness to overlook a lifetime of moral bankruptcy.

I do have some friends that will come right out and say the man is a butthead, he's an idiot, and he's an absolute clown, but I like his policies. Those are the Republicans I admire.

During the 20 years that Clinton, Obama and Biden were in office I was continually critical of their policies. Just look back at some of my posts when Obama and Biden were in power. I was not a big fan of Obama for many of the years that he was president and my posts reflect that. As a centrist democrat I criticized a lot of his policies.

I see so little of that coming from Republicans these days, to point where their absolute fealty is actually quite frightening. Most just can't handle critique of Trump, they immediately clam up, get defensive and start making it personal. Instead of behaving like rational intellectuals and debating policy they just start throwing out nonsense, accusations that I've never criticized my own party, or that I get paid to be critical of Trump. That is not only ridiculous, it is inane. I wish somebody would offer to pay me to criticize Trump. I would spend my whole day doing it.

Looking forward to the next step in keeping brown people out. Maybe naturalized citizens?

Why is Laos on the list and Pakistan and India are not?

I "think" the Republicans (incl. Trump) only seem radical because the Democratics went so far to the left with open borders, DEI, etc.  I'm not a fan of some of things Trump says because I think he can be somewhat course in his demeaner but I'm willing to accept that because I'm a big fan of his policies that are attempting to correct the destructive polices of the previous administration(s).

Totally fictional. USA, as most of the Western world, has moved to the right.
