Any idea where in Thailand I can find edelmarzipan? Not like the Ritter Sport one sees in supermarkets here, but the richer, less sweet premium stuff.

 

I would love to get some for my wife for Christmas.

Unfortunately that's the standard 50 / 50 marzipan with half sugar, and it comes from Germany and is - even before import duties - mind-numbingly expensive. 🙂

 

I suspect the good stuff isn't to be found here...

It's not true that the product is 50/50. There is 40% Marzipan and 29% Dark chocolate stated in the ingredients. It's more likely to be 65/35 marzipan

Still, I'm not sure I'd spend 2300 baht for something that costs about 500 on that same Niederegger site (unless I'm misreading that too - always a possibility at my age).

 

But making my own is a good idea. I could give my wife a real surprise for Christmas - either a decent approximation of one of her childhood favorites, or food poisoning.
