Facial Expressions. Underrated.

Featured Replies

Everybody focusing on what important people say, not paying much attenton as far as facial expressions are concerned. Facial expessions say more than a thousand words.

Examples? Melania Trump. Stonefaced = I am a good soldier. Selensky after the recent meeting with "European Leaders": "I have lost, game over".

Look at their faces, instead of awaiting "official bulletins".

Facial expressions can also help when it comes to "private matters". The love of your life may tell you "I love you" 2 seconds later she may be staring at the wall, the sparkle of her eyes gone, nervously fiddling with her handbag and their facial muscles (and there are many) starting to twitch in a manner that you have not seen before.

And the moral of the story: Don't await "official bulletins", look at peoples faces.

I permanently look like a bulldog chewing a very angry wasp. It's my 'resting face'. My Mrs thought I was constantly angry the first 3 years we were together.

But inside I'm smiling. Sometimes.

When you experience this, do the following:

1. Stop.

2. Turn the light on.

3. Check which orifice you're in.

4. Sorted.

For the neophyte, it's the second hole from the back of the neck.

Brilliant. One of the funniest things I've read that was written on here in a while...

Body Language, which is the totality of all the various ways the human body has to communicate non-verbally, is actually more important and usually conveys more truthful information than spoken words! It's a subject I've been fascinated by and studying about for many years.

Sociologists and Linguists tell us that it actually makes up more than 70% of the real communication!  The face is just one small part of it all. This is one of the more important reasons why there are so many disputes and arguments in Social Media; a complete misunderstanding of what is being said because there is no accompanying body language to let the listener know the true intent of what is being said. Was it said sarcastically? Was it said as a joke? Was the person unhappy when they told you something? We miss so much of the intended information because we can't see the speaker!

But... it's not just 'the face,' or the 'arms crossed,' or the feet pointing away. To make any sort of analysis, we need to see a cluster of these, all occurring at the same time.
The study of body language is fascinating, and I recommend learning more about it. The understanding makes personal interaction so much clearer.
