A man’s body was discovered floating in an irrigation canal in Ratchaburi province late on Friday night, prompting a police investigation and forensic examination to determine the cause of death. Officers confirmed that identification documents found on the body included a lawyer’s licence and police are now coordinating with the deceased man’s relatives.

The incident was reported at about 11.20pm on 2 January 2025, when police at Photharam Police Station were alerted to a body floating in an irrigation canal, locally known as Khlong Ma Nao. The canal is located in Moo 2, Ban Sing subdistrict, Photharam district, Ratchaburi province.

Upon receiving the report, Pol Lt Col Ratthanan Kasemsitthichaikul, a deputy investigation officer at Photharam Police Station, informed Pol Col Phuchong Narong-in, the station superintendent. Investigators, forensic personnel from Photharam Hospital and rescue workers from the Sawang Ratchaburi Foundation were dispatched to the scene to carry out an initial examination.

At the scene, the body was found lodged near a water gate before drifting into a smaller connecting canal, known locally as Khlong Tua Wai. Rescue workers retrieved the body from the water to allow officials to conduct a preliminary post-mortem examination.

Authorities confirmed that the deceased was a man and that no visible injuries were found on his body during the initial inspection. A search of his personal belongings uncovered several identification documents, including a national identity card, a lawyer identification card, a licence to practise law, and a driving licence.

The documents identified the deceased as Mr Khajorn, aged 51. Police have not released further personal details at this stage. A witness who discovered the body told police that he had just finished work and was driving home when he noticed what appeared to be a person floating in the canal alongside the road. After slowing down to take a closer look and realising it was a body, he immediately contacted Photharam Police Station.

Khaosod reported that police said the discovery caused concern among local residents, while officers stressed that a thorough forensic examination is required before any conclusions can be drawn. The body will be sent for a detailed autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.
