Observation on a couple of Pattaya streets

Just an observation on a couple of Pattaya streets.

Heading west on Siam Country Club road from the railroad tracks to Sukhumvit; it was recently refinished with new asphalt and drains. At first they paved over all the drains then came back later, cut out the drain openings, and installed gratings over them, I thought for sure it would end up like most streets here with drains, the drain openings acting as speed bumps. I was pleasantly surprised after all was done, the road is amazingly flat and all the drains sit at the right height! I've been here 30+ years and this is the best road repair I've ever come across! If any one from city hall is reading this, get the company that performed this repair to do all future road works in Pattaya! Maybe they could start with the section of north bound Sukhumvit from north road to Naklua, around Bangkok hospital Pattaya, the right two lanes are amazing.......in a bad way, it's like being on a bad rollercoaster. They were fixed at least two times and maybe three, but still have major issues! I'm not in road construction and I could do a better job just by eyeballing it!

Anyway, just a little rant--and a compliment, to the crew that did those excellent repairs on Siam Country Club.

Keep your head on a swivel and stay safe out there!

Pattaya’s streets really have a unique vibe that’s hard to find elsewhere. There’s a mix of bustling energy, colorful signs, and little local spots that make exploring on foot really interesting. Observing the daily life there gives a good sense of the culture and how locals and tourists interact. Walking around slowly and taking it all in can be surprisingly rewarding.

Also KhaoTalo has just been tarmacked and it's a good flat job. 3rd road and 2nd road maybe the worst in the world.

They've just repainted many roads, now Pratumnak Hill far worse so i have to swerve around the paint

First, give it a few months to see if it subsides. I hope it doesn't but it's sandy soil. There have been many seaside projects that look great that first week, but end up washing into the sea after the first good rain.

Pattaya has some of the worst roads in Thailand. Holes everywhere (no pun intended), bumpy and most "repairs" don't last longer then the time they needed to "repair" it.

Venture outside and the quality of the roads improve a lot. Every small village in Nakhon Nowhere has better roads then Pattaya.

Soi Siam is not Pattaya😊

Unique indeed in Pattaya family resort !

Pattaya=

Literally walking in the gutter, amongst dog<deleted> and stinking bins as there is no provision for pedestrian lo-sos and feelthy tourists.

Navigating into the middle of the road due to obstructive tables, chairs, plantpots, parked vehicles, platic cones, and aggressive attitudes.

It's especially exciting at the 1metre gap where the speed bumps barely meet the gutter - where our hosts on wheels get to make you jump out of the way as they threaten to run you down.

Good sport....Just watch them falang chickens having to run across the main roads.

That safe gap suddenly gets filled by the moron motorbikers at Mach 9

Not to mention the optional one way systems where you have to make way or suffer an injury.

Okay rant over.. I'm off to sit on bench seat under the trees in one of the many public parks.

Maybe I'll use a use the public toilet on the way......oh wait....

Weirdly people walk and run in the road because it's smoother than the pavement

What about the rest of Pattaya's streets? Care to comment. 🙂

Always think of the railway line bypass road, particularly Southbound. The digging and putting in of drainage pipes has ruined it and it is risky for motorcycles.

They dont have quality control over the road makers here, 6 to 12 months later the tar breaks up in places and holes appear, noticed on one streach of road they the road people didnt scrape the tar before applying a new layer, then when they come along too do repairs.....there the worst...the thing is who ever is the overlord in government or city hall here would have to be on the take...to keep producing s.h.i.t. work like this and not held accountable and to keep getting contracts......,

Hit the nail on the head! Possibly higher ups family members producing the s**t work and constantly getting contracts to fix THEIR s**t work!

Goes round and round and round and keeps the money in the family.
