Doctor Warns Trump Shows ‘All The Signs Of Dementia’

Doctor Raises Alarm Over Trump’s Mental Health As Dementia Fears Grow

Fresh concerns are mounting over Donald Trump’s mental fitness after a leading psychotherapist warned that the US president is showing “all the signs of dementia.”

Dr John Gartner, who has long raised concerns about Trump’s psychological state, said the 80-year-old president is experiencing a rapid cognitive decline that could worsen as he continues in office. He pointed to memory lapses, disjointed speech, poor judgment and increasingly erratic behaviour as warning signs.

“Take a good look at Donald Trump today, because that’s the best Donald Trump you’re ever going to see,” Dr Gartner said, claiming the president’s condition will continue to deteriorate.

The warnings come amid growing scrutiny of Trump’s recent public appearances. Critics have highlighted moments where he appeared to lose his train of thought, confuse names and places, and veer into long, unfocused monologues. Reports of Trump nodding off during meetings and struggling with physical issues, including bruising and swollen ankles, have added to the unease.

Trump, who frequently mocked Joe Biden as “Sleepy Joe” during the 2024 election campaign, has repeatedly insisted he is in “perfect health” and says he has passed multiple cognitive tests. However, concerns intensified last week when he appeared to struggle to recall the word “Alzheimer’s” while discussing his father’s late-life diagnosis, needing prompting from his press secretary.

International anxiety has also been stirred by claims that Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico privately warned European leaders that Trump’s psychological state was “dangerous” following a meeting at Mar-a-Lago. The White House dismissed those reports as “fake news.”

Despite the criticism, Trump’s allies argue he remains sharp when engaged and say political opponents are exaggerating routine slips. No doctor examining Trump has formally diagnosed a cognitive disorder.

Still, with Trump holding vast executive power and pursuing confrontational foreign policies, critics warn that questions about his mental fitness are becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

Key takeaways

  • A leading psychotherapist claims Donald Trump is showing “all the signs of dementia”, warning his condition will worsen and impair judgment.

  • Concerns are fuelled by visible physical symptoms (bruising, swelling), confusion, verbal lapses and reports of him nodding off in meetings.

  • Critics point to Trump’s erratic foreign threats and aggressive rhetoric as evidence of declining impulse control.

  • A reported private warning from Slovakia’s prime minister to European leaders has intensified international unease, despite White House denials.

  • Trump rejects health concerns outright, insisting he is in “perfect health” and dismissing comparisons with his father’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
