The incident unfolded when an 18-year-old armed suspect stormed the school, initially seizing a 14-year-old female student as a hostage. Mrs. Sasipatchara courageously negotiated to take the student's place, showcasing her dedication to protecting her pupils. The gunman eventually surrendered after police intervention, but not before Mrs. Sasipatchara was gravely injured.

Her former colleague, Ms. Darawan Chaisuwan, witnessed Mrs. Sasipatchara's bravery, noting her commitment as she stepped forward to negotiate with the gunman. Online tributes across Thailand have highlighted her selflessness and dedication as an educator. Many have hailed her as a hero who prioritized her students’ safety above her own.

Looking ahead, the incident raises significant questions about school security and gun control policies in Thailand. The authorities are expected to review these issues to prevent similar tragedies. A truly selfless act — May she rest in peace

She should be remembered for a long time. What a courageous woman. 🥺

My condolences to the brave lady's family. Was the suspect on drugs, intoxicated...what motive did he have for taking a hostage? Wonder if the Director got her injuries trying to disarm the gunman?

Can't think of a more deserving statue.

A true hero

Such a selfless gesture. Quite an example to the kids of today and the rest of us. She deserves to be remembered as a hero. Is the creep who killed her still alive? If so, hope he is treated without mercy.

They should rename the school after her. Then she will never be forgotten.

If only the world had more people like this Kind spirit of a woman. Who gave it all for her students.

May she rest in eternal peace.

God be with her.

Before I make a comment I would like to recommend that this brave lady, Mrs. Sasipatchara Sinsamosorn, receives the highest bravery medal possible and her immediate family financial compensation.

The article regarding her death lacks important details that I am sure other readers would want to know the specifics. In short, not a well written news article. It only states,"The gunman eventually surrendered ......., but not before Mrs. Sasipatchara was gravely injured".

One can assume she was shot but it does not specifically say she was or by what type of gun. Was it a shotgun pistol etc? For all we know maybe he stabbed her or other rather that use his gun. Or maybe the Thai police accidentality shot her whilst trying to shoot the hostage taker who was only 18.

The article indirectly states her grave injury occurred before the gunman surrendered. How long was she held as a hostage before her grave injury?

Which raises another question was the gunman a student, or ex student of the school? Why was he at the school with a gun in the first place? What was his intention and motive?

The article raises more questions than it actually answers

A truly brave lady to whom the highest respect should be paid. Rest in peace, and may you always be remembered for your courage and for your sacrifice.

What a tragic waste of the life of clearly a very dedicated and special lady

One can only hope that someone establishes a Go Fund so this brave lady's family might get some financial help

Of course the money cannot replace this brave brave lady- but it can help?

in the linked khaosod article from which this is taken there's a bit more detail, I don't understand why it wasn't included

"The incident occurred when an 18-year-old man, who had seized a firearm from a police officer, stormed the school and opened fire. Mrs. Sasipatchara was seriously wounded. A 14-year-old female student was also shot. The suspect later held students hostage before police surrounded the area and secured his surrender".... อ่านข่าวต้นฉบับได้ที่ : https://www.khaosodenglish.com/featured/2026/02/12/tributes-pour-in-for-school-director-who-died-after-shielding-students-in-hat-yai-shooting/
