I have a tourist visa and have just started a 1 year Thai course at an approved school so want to apply for a NON-IMM ED visa and would prefer to save a trip to Penang if possible but find myself in the typical catch 22 situation

Immigration in Bangkok say they can issue the visa, but the letter from the Ministry of Education must be addressed to "Immigration Bureau" not to "Thai Consulate", and they must see the originals of the school registration documents etc to check the certified copies

The school says the Ministry of Education will not issue a letter addressed to "Immigration Bureau", they will only issue addressed to "Thai Consulate"

The school also says they cannot give me the original registration documents, and that the consulates always accept the certified copies, so I should go to Penang!

anyone had any success with this in Bangkok?
