My neighbour, farang woman, has downloaded a 'print off' of the Affirmation To Marry, and needs advice on three of the questions contained therein. One of the questions being 'income'. I told her I didn't think this applied to farang women marrying a Thai MAN, am I correct? She also asked regards the 'referees' in her home country, do they actually have to contact them? If so, must they be contacted for their permission? She has lived here for some years and has no address in the uk now. Will any former address do? Seems a bit odd when one's relocated some several years earlier.

Also, what is the 'expiration' date of this Affirmation? She tells me she has to go to Bangkok on business, and can get the Affirmation processed herself, thereafter having the marriage registered in her home province? Any advice to advise greatly appreciated.

Just put the last adress you lived at in the UK, they won't contact the referees and just put down whatever income you receive, if any.

Ditto. In May 2007.

I still keep meaning to mention to my 2 referees that I put them down :o

I had a current address, but no evidence of contact in my absence.

Income - I just made up a round figure which was roughly true. Being Self Employed I would have known if they had checked :D .........I have never heard of an income requirement for the Affirmation to Marry - indeed I am a bit non plussed as to why the Embassy even asks!
