Thailand Multi-Entry Tourist Visa Requirements

Featured Replies

As I understand it, you pay around 5000 bht for the M/E visa. This allows you to enter and exit Thailand as many times as you want during a 6 month period. But I'm unsure of the proof of funds amount. Some sources say 20,000 bht, others say 400,000 baht. Which one (If either) is correct.

Also, Are there any issues if I want to get another M/E visa when the first one expires?

TIA.

Depends how long apart. If back to back that most likely won't work.

The financials depends on where you apply

The METV will stamp you in for 60 days.

Then you need exit or apply for 30 day extension.

If you exit and reenter just prior to expiry you will be stamped in for another 60.

With extension that provides almost 9 month stay.

Thanks for the quick reply Drjack. It all seems a bit hit and miss to me. I think I'll do a bit more research before committing.

Hopefully some first hand reply will provide clarity.

Where would you be applying for the e-Visa

Laos.

The visa isn't for me, it's for a friend. She's Lao and has a Laos passport. It's a long story, but basically, she has some family in Thailand that she wants to visit for periods longer than the current 30 days. She has no intention of working. She just wants to be with her family.

There are 2 proofs of funds.

First is what is required to get the visa. That will vary based on the embassy used. You need to show whatever they request in the bank account as proof to get the visa itself.

Second is what is required to enter Thailand. Technically anyone entering as a tourist could be asked to show 20,000 baht in cash. Not common if you have an actual tourist visa, but they can still ask if they want.

I think people from neighboring countries have traditionally been treated a little differently when it comes to being able to enter multiple times, and they are not scrutinized as strictly as westerners and other foreigners. But there's still a concern over the person potentially coming into Thailand to work illegally if they are spending too much time in Thailand.

Basically she'll be fine entering Thailand multiple times, probably not even needing an METV (but it wouldn't hurt), until she can't anymore. The only way to be sure about coming as much as she wants is to have a long-term visa, but that's not always feasible for some people based on age, and other factors.

Thanks everyone for your advice. I have suggested to her, that she should contact either an agency or the Thai Embassy in Vientian to get the current information/costs etc. She'll have to decide what she wants to do after that.

Once again, thanks for your help.

in canada,they ask 200,000 as a proof

Got a question regarding single entry Touris visa . Is it always required to have a confirmed onward flight booking within 60 days of your intended arrival.

It's a hassle if your plans are to get a 30 day extension, or travel overland to Malaysia.

Here is thread. I would have written reply same as BritTim post in this thread.

Suggest you put a exit date within the 60 days and perhaps flight details.

CHeck first if you can apply for visa. on Thai e visa site.

I cant as site says Im already IN Thailand.

I try to get some answer from Thailand, but still no answer.

I get this pop up after filling in the first 2 questions, after logging in.

I send email, month ago, to thai e visa, no reply. Yesterday send to Thai embassy, not yet answered?!

This popping up would indicate it will be rejected. However no clue if so.

As when I accept , I can go on. But then after paying and so, it will be rejected?

Thailand will love it, but not me.

In the meantime it leaves me with questions and cant make any visa apply.

Long live AI and digital.

Actually, that notice pops up for everyone, regardless of where they are located. It's just an informational notice.

For a while, people thought it was allowed to apply from within Thailand because only embassies said it was not okay, but the visa system never said that. Now it does, so people can no longer claim they weren't aware.

Thanks, yes indeed you can just consider it a general warning. Didnt think about that.

As then it is on the wrong place and wrong timing.

As it appeared, you get the idea , you cant apply then. That happened with me.

The system seeing me somehow in Thailand, as it occurred after log in.

And then I was stuck to that idea. But as you say, it could be a general warning.

Thanks for wakening me up and maybe others as wel.

As when it happened at that time and that place, I was flabbergasted and confused.

Nowadays there is so much hacking and you have no clue what happens with your info.

And companies ask you everything about you and keep it.

Big internet provider, just here got robbed of many info of clients. They had to pay which they didnt and all info went on sale on darkweb. At that time I was also on e thai visa.

So you think one and one is two and im in trouble.
