Andy Soloman, a British photographer, has embarked on a journey to reconnect individuals in Vietnam with images of their younger selves from over three decades ago. Soloman originally visited Vietnam in 1992 and stayed in Hanoi for seven years, capturing the country's landscapes and people through his camera lens. With the COVID-19 pandemic prompting a trip down memory lane, he decided to return these photos to their subjects, launching the project "Continuum."

Soloman's photography journey began in the early 1990s, a time when Vietnam was marked by poverty juxtaposed with rich hospitality. He traveled extensively from the northern mountains to the Central Highlands, capturing images that documented Vietnam's raw beauty and essence. He held onto these photos for years, storing them in the UK until the pandemic inspired him to reconnect people with their past.

Returning to Vietnam proved challenging, with changes in geography and demographics over the years. Soloman used social media and local networks to track down the people he photographed, successfully reconnecting with 57 individuals by the end of 2025. His project has culminated in an exhibition of these "then and now" images, demonstrating the passage of time while highlighting enduring warmth and resilience.

The journey has not only provided closure to those he captured on film but also showcased how Vietnam has evolved. The exhibition, which opened in Hanoi and traveled to Phu Quoc and Ho Chi Minh City, has touched many, offering glimpses into the nation's past and present. Soloman's work is set to continue as he plans further visits to areas like Cao Bang and Ha Giang to find more subjects.
