And not from Scotland! I am sorry I am circumcised as was commonly done in the 1950s.

But both Jews and Arabs embrace this barbaric practice!

Muslim khitan is the Sunnah of the Prophets, done on the seventh day after birth. It is a foundational tradition tracing back to Prophet Abraham, followed by Prophet Muhammad, making it a symbolic act of faith symbolizing purity, cleanliness, and submission to Allah.

However, in my view, it marks the individual's identity within the Muslim community, so other Muslims know their brothers. It is not mention in the Qur’an.

Another hairy practice. Muslims shave their pubic hair primarily to maintain high standards of personal cleanliness and hygiene, which is considered a fundamental part of the fitrah (natural disposition or innate human purity).

According to a hadith narrated by Anas bin Malik, believers were instructed not to exceed 40 days without removing pubic and armpit hair to prevent bad smells which could emanate from them.

Showers are good! The husband can shave his wife in private because it is his responsibility to keep his wife clean. Also, Surah An-Nisa, Ayat 34, states that men are the caretakers of women. This indicates that there is no `awrah between a husband and his wife, and they are allowed to see and touch each other's private parts. Fun, too!

It has been widely adopted in the pornography industry to make penetration more visible.

Jews circumcise males as a religious commandment (mitzvah) known as Brit Milah (covenant of circumcision), performed on the eighth day of life. This act serves as a physical, eternal sign of the covenant between God and Abraham. It symbolizes dedication, identity, and the obligation to bring holiness into the physical world.

The primary reason is biblical, as mandated in Genesis 17:10–14, representing an enduring covenant between God and the Jewish people.

The Torah does not mention circumcision, this was obviously created by some zealot along the way. Not Maimonides as circumcision is performed by a mohel not a doctor!

As infants are born uncircumcised, the ceremony is viewed as completing a physical task that symbolizes refining natural, raw human instincts.

In other words, God’s creation just isn’t good enough. It represents making the physical body holy and setting oneself apart, which is why it is often done regardless of modern medical debates.

So circumcision makes Jews able to recognise other Jews! Hm, same as Muslims. Though maybe the Muslim detector is a quick look at the old Arnold Palmer.

Among Sephardic and Mizrahi Jews, it is a common custom for women to remove pubic hair before immersing in the mikveh (ritual bath) to ensure there is no "interposition" (chatzitzah) between the water and the skin.

The proper coverage of Hasidic women and the manner of their dress is explicitly detailed and regulated by the laws of the Torah, or halakhoth.

“The law requires that the neck (below and including the collarbone), the upper arms (including the elbow) and the thighs and knees (when sitting or standing) of a married woman’s be covered both in public and within the confines of her own house.” Whew!

In addition, Jewish law also requires that “a married woman may not appear in public with her hair uncovered. She is required to wear a head-covering that hides all her hair from view. It is proper to ensure that no hair protrudes from it.”

Some Hasidic women shave their heads after marriage as a strict form of tznius (modesty) to ensure no hair is ever exposed, signifying that their beauty is reserved only for their husband.

Some Hasidic women shave their heads entirely on the day after their weddings, and repeat the shaving monthly to ensure that not a single strand of hair would ever be allowed to show, signifying that their beauty is reserved only for their husband. This is the tradition observed by Hasidic women in Hungary, the Ukraine and Galicia.

Other Jewish women wear a scarf (tikhl) over their hair. Others still wear a wig (sheytl) in order to cover up their real hair. This form of covering is considered less religious than the scarf because of the appearance of hair.

Not sure how that enhances beauty with a bald wife.

So what do Jewish and Muslim men do in the locker room or sauna? Who can tell who’s Jew or Muslim?

Just as it should be.

"You misunderstood. I said remove the skin from your peanuts!"

Some religious practices evolved as a practical solution to a health problem. It's difficult to keep a foreskin clean when no water is available. Pubic and armpit hair harbours ticks, fleas and crabs. Trichinosis was rife in pork, hence the prohibition.

Most have been made obsolete by modern hygiene and public health measures, while Jews and Muslims maintain belief in redundant strictures.

I prefer women with hairy armpits.

Sinus issues?

I am a victim of circumcision. Approx 75 years ago. Mot Jewish. Not Muslim. Health issue justification even as a newbornish citizen to a nurse employed previously in a 1st world country.

Over my adult lifetime thus far I have experienced contact with females who religiously have shaved anything below the scalp with similar health/hygiene justification.

No objections .

I find a lack of pubic hair to be boring. Over done. Overplayed. Not interesting. The exception being a particularly gorgeous punnani.

Alot of the orthodox stuff is very ritualistic. Feels ancient and primitive to me. Not meaningful or devotional. But, that is just my opinion.

Dang! How could I forget this anecdote!

Dr Spock, the baby doctor, was chair of the National Committee for a SANE Nuclear Policy. In 1966, he and I, supported by others, chained shut the doors of the Whitehall Street Induction Center in Lower Manhattan. We were cut free and arrested, entombed in The Tombs.

Ben had arrived on his Harley and they let him bring his motorcycle helmet into the cell. He used it as a pillow. But he couldn't get comfortable.

I asked him what was going on. He was in his 60s and had married a delightful young thing in her 20s. He told me they were doing it so much, he'd had to get circumcised that day!

True story...
