Trump Seeks $1.5 Trillion for Military,

Featured Replies

President Trump on Friday released a summary of his budget proposal for the 2027 fiscal year, seeking $1.5 trillion in defense spending, by far the largest dollar amount in modern history.

The initial plan didn’t include many key details, including overall spending levels and longer-term revenue forecasts.

The proposal for military spending included $1.1 trillion for the Defense Department for the next fiscal year, as well as another $350 billion for critical munitions, an effort to grow the defense industrial base and other matters.

It's a 40% increase over last year's budget. So about $450 billion. But not to worry. He's compensated for that by proposing a 10% cut in domestic spending. Which comes to about $73 billion dollars including a $10 billion cut to the NIH. This is the Trump version of responsible budgeting. In the same magical way that he has repeatedly claimed that tax cuts pay for themselves, now $73 billion cut in domestic spending will magically compensate for the $450 billion in increased defense spending.

I looked on the Fox News website to see if I could use this story as a source. It didn't feature. When Fox News doesn't prominently display a story like this, that's a very solid indication that they know how it will play with the public.

But to be fair to Trump, he isn't proposing a cut in all domestic spending. He's still willing to spend on the crucial stuff:

It's not real money to them. And to have the audacity to say we have to cut more from health care to pay for it all is beyond belief. They all have theirs, screw the rest of us peons.

To be fair.......looking at this national debt malarky rocketing and becoming unaffordable, unable to even pay the debt interest, let alone the debt.............at 79 he doesn't give a monkey's.

It's like being diagnosed with terminal cancer and worrying about your overdraft and credit card bills................

With US$1 trillion going to Trump and his cronies?

;What comes after a trillion ?

Might need a new word soon !

Lobsters and ribeye steaks aint cheap.

1.5T for defense? More likely for attack.

Venezuela, Iran, maybe Cuba next, and the rest of South America had better watch out.

If Trump pulls out of NATO and returns all those troops and equipment the US, why would he need more money?
