Trump Announces Hormuz Ceasefire Deal As Oil Prices Plunge

Trump Declares ‘Double-Sided’ Ceasefire

Donald Trump has announced a sudden ceasefire agreement with Iran, tying a two-week halt in hostilities to the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

“I agree to suspend the bombing… for a period of two weeks,” Trump said, calling it a “double-sided CEASEFIRE” contingent on immediate action from Tehran.

The move comes just hours before a hard deadline, after days of escalating threats and warnings of massive strikes on Iranian infrastructure.

Iran Fires Back With ‘Black Hole’ Threat

Tehran responded with defiance, warning it had prepared devastating retaliation.

An Iranian military source claimed the country had a “black hole” ready for Trump, threatening strikes on key regional energy infrastructure — including Saudi Aramco facilities and Gulf pipelines — if the U.S. escalates.

The message was blunt: any further attack would trigger heavy costs not just for Washington, but for its allies across the region.

Israel Backs Deal — With A Catch

Israel quickly signalled support for the ceasefire — but made clear it has limits.

Officials said the agreement does not extend to Lebanon, leaving a potential flashpoint unresolved even as tensions ease elsewhere.

At the same time, Israel endorsed U.S. efforts to eliminate Iran’s nuclear and missile threat during the pause in fighting.

White House Claims Victory

The White House wasted no time declaring success.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the U.S. had achieved its objectives in just 38 days, insisting the reopening of Hormuz marked a major strategic win.

“This is a victory for the United States,” she said, praising the military campaign launched under Operation Epic Fury.

Oil Markets React Instantly

Markets responded within hours.

Global benchmark Brent crude plunged more than 13%, while U.S. oil prices dropped over 14%, falling back below the $100 mark after weeks of surge driven by fears of a prolonged shutdown.

The Strait of Hormuz — through which a significant share of the world’s oil flows — remains the key pressure point.

A Fragile Pause In A Dangerous War

Despite the breakthrough, the ceasefire remains conditional — and fragile.

Trump had earlier warned that an entire “civilisation” could be wiped out if Iran failed to comply. Tehran, meanwhile, has shown no sign of backing down beyond the immediate agreement.

For now, the guns may fall silent.

But with deadlines, threats, and unresolved flashpoints still in play, this looks less like peace — and more like a pause before the next escalation.

If this holds, it is a great thing for the world. Trump had threatened to ruin Iran and likely kill millions of its population. That would be a major war crime.

The insane maniac appears to have chickened out yet again. That is good news. Iran has out some heavy demands on the US, and the Goomba appears to have accepted them. A major victory for Iran. And a monster omelet on the face of a very ugly dumb and president.

Iran’s 10-point proposal includes withdrawing U.S. combat forces from all regional bases, lifting all sanctions, releasing Iranian assets frozen abroad and full payment of Iran’s war-related damages. It would also establish a protocol for controlled passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump, on Monday, said a ceasefire proposal put forward by Iran was “not good enough.” It was not immediately clear what in the intervening hours led him to accept Iran’s proposal as a “workable basis” for negotiations. What did he achieve with all this destruction and inflation?

For Iran.

Winning! Too much winning! I can't take it anymore, can we please stop winning?!!?

No, we have to keep on winning!

Funny when prices increase on the global markets, the petrol pumps immediately increase. When they decrease however on the global markets, it's a different story to find a honest price at the petrol pump.

Under Obama:

•The Strait of Hormuz was open because it was never closed.

•Limitations were placed on Iran's uranium enrichment.

•Iran agreed not to to make nuclear weapons.

•International inspectors were permitted into Iran to confirm full compliance.

Under Trump's ceasefire:

•The Strait of Hormuz will open but under direct Iranian control, possibly with a $2 million fee extracted from each vessel passing through. That toll would be split between Iran and Oman. The Strait was only closed because Trump started his war.

•Iran does not have to guarantee a limit on uranium enrichment.

•Iran does not guarantee that it will never develop nuclear weapons and there will be no international inspectors.

And those are just the top line items for Trump's ceasefire. He also stated that Iran's "10 point proposal" is a "workable basis on which to negotiate."

If Trump ratifies that proposal he will have to:

•Lift all primary and secondary sanctions on Iran.

•Withdraw the U.S. military entirely from the Middle East.

•End all attacks on Iran and its allies.

•Release frozen Iranian assets.

“That plan includes the US withdrawing its military forces from the region, lifting economic sanctions on Iran, paying compensation for war damages and allowing Iran to maintain control over Hormuz. It is hard to imagine Trump actually agreeing to any of those conditions – a sign that the next two weeks of negotiations could be treacherous.

IMO Iran is going to come out of this winning several important concessions - the right to sell its oil with no sanctions, and the ability to finance the ongoing survival of its regime. It has not given up any control of the Strait of Hormuz, rather confirmed it.

OTOH America has lost respect all around the world. It did not achieve the stated objective of regime change. It spent almost $1 billion a day trying to pound Iran into submission. It depleted its stocks of weapons which will take months, if not years to replace. People from all countries will only remember how Trump hit their hip pockets.

Russia and China quite openly sabotaged Trump, and he was powerless to prevent it.

The " win" for Trump is a bit like the guy who managed to escape the anaconda that was squeezing him to death.

I guess Cuba is next, anything to keep the Epstein off the front pages.

Meantime, Americans can look forward to having social services go missing, as the money flows to Raytheon and Lockheed.

Donnie the Peacemaker.

Get the Iranian leadership in the negotiation room. Allow the Americans a bathroom break. Lock the doors and... Blow the building up.

He clearly isn't sincere.
