Steady on there. You appear to know your stuff, but there's no need to get so prickly. Nobody has introduced any pejoratives to this discourse. We're all friends here... well, most of us are.

I don't know you or any of you losers from Jack. But referring to Iranians as "pesky turbans" seemed a bit racist, and I've seen Mods act on posts like that. Or are we now allowed to use terms like Septics, Seppos, Yanks, Wops, Dagos, Iti's, Camel Jockeys, Towel Heads, Krauts, Polacks, Nips, Chinks, Spurs Fans and worse etc..

How are Arleigh Burke-class Aegis Destroyers now suddenly minesweepers? They have K Mk20 Mod 1 EO sonar arrays, but this is for defensive purposes. Having an array doesn't mean you can now clear mines

In the first week of action, the Pentagon released imagery of several small Iranian minelayers being destroyed as they sat in various ports. A week or so later, the obliteration of the entire Iranian

The Royal Navy has more minesweeping capability that the entire US Navy. Fact. Are we allowed to use slang terms to describe peoples? I thought using nicknames like "Septics" was banned on the forum.

The title of this thread is misleading. The US claims that two destroyers traversed the SOH inbound yesterday as part of a broader mission to clear mines. This claim has not been independently verified, and is contested by Iran.

Furthermore, no one (not the US, GCC states, nor Iran) is claiming that mine clearing operations are ongoing anywhere in the Persian Gulf or the SOH.

Lastly, (US) destroyers are not equipped with mine clearing systems beyond those installed for own vessel protection.

You just woke up, right?

"Clever clogs"?... "you lot"...?

Yes, they do. But the majority of that fleet was laid up, either for repairs, scheduled maintenance or possible lack of crewing. Of the active vessels, at least one was committed to NATO security and at sea.

Royal Navy sez:

HMS Ledbury; on sea trials with new generation martime drone systems

HMS Cattistock: Available, currently interdicting Russian vessals in English Channel

HMS Middleton; nearing completion of 3 year refit

HMS Chiddingfold; last refit was 2019, was in Gulf 2020-2025, certification lapsed during deployment, so no long sea worthy. Heavy lift transport back to the UK. In uncrewed "extended readiness" (mothballed), being used as spare parts for other vessals. Long and battered career protecting Arab Shiekhs,

HMS Hurworth; Home waters deployment, port Birkenhead. Currently on the Clyde, so <deleted> you and your lack of crew Daily Mail/Telegraph nonsense.

HMS Bangor (last Sandown); Undergoing repairs in UK, following operations in the Gulf protecting Oil Sheikhs. Repairs expected to be completed imminently

HMS Stirling Castle; RFA was being refitted as mother ship for drones. Undergoing certification and training. As of 5 days ago, was at Portsea. Is fitted out for deployment in Europe, where you need heaters and not aircondtioners.

HMS Cardigan Bay; being refitted as a drone mother ship. Won't be available for a couple of years. The refit is specific for redeployment to the Gulf Region.

The following autonomous Minehunters are ready and able

RNMB Hebe

RNMB Hydra

RNMB Hussar

RNMB Hazard

RNMB Harrier

RNMB Halcyon

RNMB Hellcat

Harrier is already in the Gulf

RNMB Apollo, Abdiel and Ariadne are more advanced Thales systems, still undergoing trials before entering service. Minesweeping is in transition, same for the US Navy. The bozos running the DoD knew this.
