Idiotic behaviour you have observed during Songkran ?

Featured Replies

Of course when you have so many visitors you will always get some idiotic behaviour. In general behaviour was lovely, and people took it in the right spirit. The alcohol free areas helped.

Some daft behaviour i observed (share yours) :

1) Two French Arab guys on the Siam BTS approach Paragon with a very dangerous high strength pipe of sorts. The water hit me in the face with so much force and pain, that had it hit me in the eye it could have been very dangerous. I approached them to tell them that the device was too strong, then told them not to direct it at faces. They were oblivious and just shrugged.

2) A Chinese guy walking down with splashing everywhere. We squirted him, and the guy totally lost the plot. Went insane with anger. You wonder what he thought was going on, and why he would walk down a soi full of people splashing.

3) The area around Central World was so packed, and the red pollution busses were out in force. At one point we were stuck in a gridlock, and THREE of these mofo busses with jet black smoke came past and stopped next to us roaring their jet black emissions onto us for a good 15 minutes. Insane they are still allowed on the roads.

4) Was meant to be alcohol free, but the Brits kept the cliche alive by being stone drunk, tops off, look at me behaviour. The few fights i saw all involved British guys getting a beating by groups of Thais. Clearly they are oblivious how it ends, you get no 'calm down' lad approach here.

5) Indians right next to Nana and Emsphere area selling water to fill up guns for 20 baht. Most shops in the sois let the water run for people to fill, but these guys were taking the urination.

I saw a German guy start really yelling at an Israeli guy who doused him with a high-powered water gun outside of Robin Hood pub

I was torn: who do I hate more as a bad tourist stereotype?

First, the Israeli guy came in and asked us what we thought since we were sitting by the door and saw the whole thing. I just gave him a thumbs up and shrugged.

Then the German guy came in, and I tossed him a bone of a sympathetic thumbs up and a shrug.

Robin Hood pub does a great hamburger with piping hot fries and two huge very hot onion rings included for 340 baht.

How often are the fries so hot that it’s painful to pick them up? At the Robin Hood pub, virtually every time.

It was my GF’s maybe sixth hamburger in her life and she declared the best one she ever had. She wants to go back tonight and try the green curry.

Is this a (not so) subtle embedded ad to finance your stay here?

Making stories up again are we? Just to have a 'pop' at the Brits. You need to change the record. You are embarrassing yourself.

I saw thousands of people enjoying themselves and being mostly respectful. The buckets of water in the face while riding a motorbike are a bit silly though.

That sounds quite yummy. Nothing says im a happy customer more than luke warm fries.

The fools are mainly those who go to Thailand during this crazy season or those who go out with all the chaos that does not change in years.

Everything normal here on beach road.

Amazing how peaceful it is in Thai tourist towns without the few idiot farangs that ruin the celebration for many. Went out today with my wife and her niece and everybody was having a good time. Not my thing but just smiled and and tried to enjoy myself. I have no idea what this no alcohol prohibition even means. Most the men seemed drunk and alcohol was everywhere. Maybe that is just a BK thing.

I nearly rolled off the sofa that's about intense as it got here🤔

need to wear goggles -- always protect the eyes

I say things went well ... but the videos coming out are absolute carnage in places.

The group of French Arabs being arrested. Then that whole group of Brits and Arab squirting the police guys. And then another gang up on a taxi driver.

Videos of violence on X and facebook are crazy. So much for alcohol free.
