Hard Drive Replacement Recommendations

Featured Replies

I have to replace my original hard drive in my 27" Retina 5K iMac (2019) (see photo). It's a 2TB Fusion Drive w/128GB SSD.

I use the iMac principally for record keeping and stream videos; am not a gamer.

I have an external storage device as well.

What would be a suitable comparable replacement available in Thailand? Any manufacturer, part nos. and if estimated price is known would be appreciated.

You can take the easy route, using an external PCIe SSD or the difficult route, utilising an internal PCIe SSD.

It a very inopportune time to look at upgrading your drive, from a cost point of view. Storage has rocketed in cost.

To give you an example... I picked up an 256GB SSD not too long ago for under 400 baht. Cost of a similar drive now, is 1800 baht.

If you wanted to replace your hybrid drive with a PCIe SSD of the same capacity, the drive alone could set you back 8000 baht...and that's cheap these days. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/wd-blue-sn5000-2tb-m2-2280-nvme-gen4-wds200t4b0e-nvme-5y-ms6-000264-i5828518859-s24811317594.html

Thanks for responding. I should have included in my post that I wanted to remain w/an internal drive and was not seeking external drive advice. In any case, the SSD in your Laz link was my planned choice pending feedback and I had it installed in my IMAC....
