Marriage visa and re-entry permit

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm returning to my home country for a few weeks. When I return my marriage visa will be due in a few days The question is should I bother about a re-entry permit? Or should I just rely on the visa on arrival 30 days and then apply for another marriage visa at the end of the 30 days.

Thanks

Bother? 1000bht should nt bother you, why wouldn't you is an interesting Q.?

100% obtain a reentry prmit.

Not doing so would be borderline crazy

1000b and can obtain at immigration office or airport on day of departure.

At airport they provide optional "service fee" where they do the form TM8, Photo etc. 200b

Since you will only have few days validity after return do as much preparation as possible.

You make it sound so simple. It's not. You would be applying for the conversion from tourist to non-O visa, which requires an "under consideration" period, so that's 2 trips to immigration. Then just a couple months later you'll have to do your application for extension, which means another 2 trips to immigration. Why go through all that time and trouble when you could just get a re-entry permit and then continue your normal annual extensions?

@Woofer read post ^ ^

Get a reentry permit. What are you thinking

BTW: Non O in Thailand is 2k

And you would still need 12 month extension 1900b

Can you not apply for your extension before you go? You can still leave with a re-entry permit while 'under consideration' as long as you return before that period expires.

The service at swampy is very good, but they only accept cash!

Immigration office would also require cash.

Thanks for everyone help. I have it sorted now.

Sorted out how.

There was only two options.

Killing of extension and starting over was not even a vague sensible option.

Assume you must have opted for reentry permit.

Technically there was a third option not mentioned, and also not terrible but still wouldn't make sense to do it. Purchase a new non-O visa while in the home country and return on that.

Yes correct.

However just a crazy option however better than ridiculous reenter Thailand visa exempt and obtain Non O at local immigration.

Which frankly OP suggested and is borderline crazy.

If he could not return prior to current stamp expiry then yes Non O eVisa would be good option

A no-brainer, get a re-entry permit.
