CW requirements for Non-O (Marriage) query as of April 2026

Featured Replies

Coming up to my first ever 1yr extension so just working out the current requirements at this particular IO...as always, this board has been invaluable but one lesson thus far appears requirements are ever so dynamic......hence a few questions.

Is this the correct official URL for updated requirements at Chaeng Wattana? https://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/visa-extension/

Regarding section "3. Evidence of relationship" - Some recent renewal posters have mentioned providing a 'recently updated' Kor Ror 2.

We got married years ago in another TH province and have the KR2 from there. However we've been living overseas since then until recently (she returned to work in BKK), so will the original KR2 suffice or do we have to go back to the original province of marriage and renew this KR2 (and then each year subsequently) prior to submitting a Non-O extension?

RE "Section 4. Copy of Identification & household registration of Thai wife or any other document proving her Thai nationality issued by authority or governmental agency concerned."

In addition to the spouse's Thai ID, has anyone's other half submitted their Thai passport to supplement the Blue Book requirement? Due to my wife's employment in the city, we're renting a place in BKK so mine doesn't hold a BKK registered blue book. Her book/registration is up north. My logic suggests the passport is correct given the text but can't be sure on the IO's interpretation of this.

Final question:

STM10 form - Have seen posters here submit this form....does CW require this given it's not mentioned on the website above?

Thanks folks.

Any amphur office will print out a KR2 form to prove the marriage is still ongoing. It costs B10.

I believe KR2 'update' can be obtained from any amphur office as they are all online.

Dont think passport is relevant at all

Just ID card and blue house book,

If you are renting then copy of the landlords book and probably TM30 report of an ’alien’ staying at their property.

We got the KR2 at Bangkok Thonglor office yesterday afternoon, 10 baht and about 15 minutes. 30 baht for parking.

We got the Extension of Stay, Thai Wife at CW today. Got there at 11:30, (got a great parking spot!) booked the queue at 11:42 (22 ahead of us), went to Krungsri to update the book and get the letter. Less than five minutes total, 100 baht. Usually have to wait 15-20 minutes, but I was the only person there and they did it while I waited. They also made copies of the bankbook for me, which they have never done for me before.

Had lunch. Went to counter L1 at ~13:20, got called at 13:40 and we were headed out the door at 14:05. Worked out perfect!

Is the KR2 an annual renewal activity?

Thank you....and similar to the other response, is this KR2 an annual renewal activity? Cheers

Yes, annually.

We have to put money in and take money out on the day of application and have the bank book updated to show those transactions...!!

The STM10 is not listed as required for us (Chaiyaphum)......they issue it when you walk in, which is useful having driven for 90 minutes to get there.

To update the book, I just use the add to transfer the interest from the visa account to my "current" account.

The teller updates it to provide the letter.

The list seems to be current (under section 18, staying with Thai wife) apart from the STM10, also not sure on that one.

Some things might need some clarification:

  • For the financial requirement, not sure which method you plan to use, mostly money in bank is used. For that you need to maintain 400,000 Baht in your (personal, not shared) account for at least two months prior to application of extension.
Documents required are a statement for at least the last 3 months, printed out by the bank, stamped and signed, along with an accompanying letter stating the current balance (so two documents to get from your bank, and they cannot be more then 7 days old at the day of application).
Then you need a copy of you bankbook showing a transaction on the day you apply for your extension, so for example pull out some cash at an atm and update your bankbook in the machine (or at the teller) thus showing balance of at least 400,000 Baht at the day of application, and then, head on to CW immigration office.

  • As you apply at CW, you need to reside in their jurisiction (Bangkok), hence you cannot use the upcountry address/blue book!
You will need a rental/lease contract for the place you stay in BKK, copy of the bluebook from the rental property and copy of the ID card of the landlord/lady.
As well as the latest TM30 (the proof your landlord/lady registered you as an alien staying at his/her property).
So three documents to get from the owner of the property.

  1. In the case of registering a marriage abroad

    • A copy of Marriage Certificate

    • A copy of Record of family status (Khor Ror 22)

yep, once you jumped thru the hoops to have your overseas foreign/thai marriage certificate registered at an Amphur any one can do a re-print of the Kor Ror 22 form

Noted on the LL's documents, thanks.
The STM10 mentioned in other posts is probably the one i'll ignore given it's not on the website so i'll leave it out unless the IO requests it.
