The British Vietnam Caving Expedition Team has uncovered a remarkable cave featuring an underground waterfall in the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Quang Tri Province. Known as Cha Ngheo, the cave measures 583 meters in length, 45 meters in depth, and 751 meters in height. This significant find enhances the park's reputation, already famed for housing the world's largest cave, Son Doong.

Phong Nha-Ke Bang was recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site in 2003, celebrated for its vast network of over 500 caves, dating back approximately 400 million years. The discovery of Cha Ngheo adds to the park's appeal, potentially expanding the existing cave network. The management board of the park has indicated that the full details of this discovery will be shared at the end of April.

Experts suggest that the newly found cave could further increase tourism interest in the region. The still-developing cave system may offer new insights into geological processes, enticing researchers and adventure enthusiasts alike. The park currently hosts about 40 accessible caves, including the grand Son Doong, attracting thousands of visitors annually.

The future looks promising for Phong Nha-Ke Bang as researchers continue exploring Cha Ngheo. This development might open new paths for scientific study and tourism, pending further discoveries. The full potential of the cave will be part of ongoing exploration efforts scheduled for later this year.
